these are m mom's choices. She has no need for apps, but she likes a phone with good features.
 
They're both soon to be dinosaurs. Rather go with the RAZR or even an iPhone. The biggest problem with the S3 is it's size, which may not appeal to most women.

HTC One X, Samsung Galaxy S2 or S3, RAZR, Sony Experia (in no particular order)

Why N9 that is running pretty much a dead OS? For a few hundred more you can get the S3 or for quite a bit less you can get the RAZR?

I will admit, Android can be a little overwhelming for some people.

N9 or a WP7 device for ease of use. Or if you like spending a lot of money for a very silly phone get an iPhone.
