Nokia N900 sees SA release

Yup and as usual with Nokia smartphones they will need to be charged at least twice a day.
And the firmware WILL be buggy - so as usual, you'll be checking your RSS feeds daily for news on an update.
And the nokia music store will still suck plugs.

lol my nokia smartphone i charge everyday,whether its flat or not. It will last UPTOO 4days max.

I think on linux when the firmware is buggy, you will be able to fix it yourself. Thats if you have superior linux programming skills. Being on linux, i bet the firmware won't ever crash.

Supposed to be like a laptop, so you'll probably need to charge it every 3 hours or so.

Well, Linux users are used to writing their own saftware everytime they want to do anything on their pc's.

Then there's this list from the link:

Main disadvantages

Large and heavy
UI only works in landscape mode (for now) :D:D
No smart and voice dialing
Outdated camera interface and features :D:D:D
No preinstalled voice-guided SatNav application
No voice recorder, no MMS, and no handwriting recognition :D:D:D
No FM radio application (despite that the hardware's there)
Limited third-party software availabilty
Limited 3G support in the US (no AT&T)

Most of the disadvantages you mentioned will be sorted out with a firmware update.

They are looking to add portrait mode in any view. MMS will be added later. FM radio could be added later, but it does have an FM transmitter. 3G support here is just fine.

I'm looking forward to this phone! I'm undecided between the Nokia N900 or the HTC HD2.

Since all of these will be done later, why the h3ll not just release the phone later when everything has been added or sorted out? This sounds like my Garmin - the firmware is now 99% sorted out, but the model is discontinued... Would still take this rather than anything HTC can throw at me!

Well the word you are looking for "hopefully" and hopefully the firmware update fixes these disadvantages lol. Look back at how long it took Apple to add MMS and Copy & Paste on the iPhone.

It's bit odd not to have added the app for radio input even though the phone has the hardware to support :confused:.

HD2 FTW in terms of specs.

Yes, one of my gripes with Nokia.
They always charge the FULL price for a Beta phone.
Rather get one that actually works as advertised.
 
I've given Nokia enough of my hard-earned cash they don't deserve it anymore and in hindsight the most brilliant nokia phones i ever owned was the 5110 6110 3310(legend) after that it was all donkey balls

Think the 1200 best phone they ever made...thinking of giving my n97 up for the 1200. Battery lasts the longest, never freezes, never restarts on its own.

I am anyway mostly using the 1200 when my n97 gives me ****

now lets hope nokia fix all the props by time we get it in the 2nd quarater 2010
