N95-2 RM320 South African code 0551771, Web sites describe it as "SWAP CTR". Don't know what it means. Firmware is current v31.0.015 07-11-08, but newer firmware is available for EURO1 models (code 0549487).
Phone was always struggling with battery life and hanging. Now owner is happy with Nokia 1616 sic!, looks like he never used phone to anything else than making and receiving calls.
Hard reset didn't help much. Have you got experience with this model regarding changing code and upgrading firmware - does it make difference?

You could try would hurt much since the device is probably out of warranty you normally use phoenix to change the code and to refurbish/factory restore the phone and download the os or unbrick the phone i only changed the product code on my bros Nokia 5800

Thanks for reply. I just found that Nokia Web site gives wrong information about the latest firmware version. Made already fresh PC installation for experimenting, installed Nokia Suite for making backup and it was reporting that new firmware v35.0.001 is available! Very close to European models.

It needs registration (perhaps for a store crap), and requires that SIM must be in phone.
