Nokia N95 @ iTalk

It wud be funny if when we turn on the phone, the traditional Nokia logo appears, then the hands join each other with the traditional Nokia tone... and right after that both hands point an UP-YOURS towards the screen and the phone switches off :D

Piesang, what would you do then :P

O yeah, there is a fake N95 on the market, called the Nokia N-95 (note the hyphen) available in China I think.. saw it on the N95 Blog, looks bad :p

It actually looks exactly like a N73!

os is obviously identical to the other n-series OS 9.2, S60 like the n80 so its pretty easy to navigate thru.

I tried using the maps app for gps navigation unfortunately i didnt realise i have to upgrade my sim card to use 3G on the phone so i'll be getting that by tomorrow.

Oh the package i got came with 1gig micro memory card!
Took a few pics and i have to tell u its simply awesom stuff !

And what are your first impressions of the device? Does the GPS have Voice Guidance or is that an extra subscription?

You have to pay extra for voice guidence.

7 days = $10
30 days = $12
1 year = $98
3 years = $105

Silly pricing but well, I'll take the 7 days one if I go on a trip. I don't need voice guidence every day.

First impressions: MMMm, let me think.

There is just too much to mention.

The Camera is just excellent. Photo and video quality is too good to be true for a phone.
The GPS is very accurate, allthough I think that better software will make the navigation better. Just waiting for TOMTOM to release a version that is compatible with the built-in GPS.
The phone is very fast.
TV-Out is amazing.
3D Graphics engine, WOW!!!!! This phone is going to kick the NGage in the buthole.
I think with the right game developers the N95 will be able to replace the PSP.

I'll keep you updated as I get time to play with the phone.

is there no guidance period then? ... mmm... that kinda sucks R70 for a week ... im sure 3rd party software can be installed and it be free using the phones built in GPS receiver ... sure you can use the already available software out there ...

Is the UI the same as in the N80? ... is the phone from MTN branded in anyway? is it network locked? ... (do they still network lock phones?)

Is it quick to navigate through the phone, no like 5 seconds waits when jumping between menus? ... as an MP3 player is it good ... nice bass etc with the earphones?

3rd party software will work on the phone but it's not programmed to utilize the built-in GPS, yet. All current software search for external bluetooth GPS receivers.

There is a difference in the UI. Much better and faster. Normal menus are the same. It's when you slide the phone downwards in landscape mode where the fun begins.

It's not network locked. The cellphone providers may not network lock phones anymore.

Like I said, the phone is quick. Almost instant. The mp3 player is excellent with 3D sound if you want to use it. Stereo speakers makes it a big improvement. I haven't used the earphones yet. Will do that probably tonight.:D ;)

Oh, forgot to say. It's not branded either.

Sorry for duplicating. It's just I had different people asking me the same questions in different threads.

:D

Push email like the one on E61, BlackBerry, etc?

Piesang: does the N95 support 'Push Email' like your BlackBerry, E61, etc? That's really crucial for my work schedule. I am tired of using Profimail (on my N80ie).

Thanks

Piesang
How long does the battery last?
Also, I take it you have to have a 3G card for GPRS? (excuse my ignorance.)
thanks

I don't know yet. Only had it for a day. Charged it when I got it yesterday and it was on charge while I played with it. I will notice after the third charge or so.

I don't understand your question about the 3G card and GPRS. Do you mean GPS?

If you mean GPS then no, you don't need 3G to use the GPS. You dont even need a sim card to use the GPS.
