Nokia N95 - shipping Q1 2007

JasJar or JasJAm, but have'nt been hearing good stuff from the jasjam.
Jasjar still seem to have more functionality, bigger screen, but it's just like a brick to carry around.

Friend recently got a jasjar (last week) so i'll have to "test" it a bit to see how it really is :D

PS. Got it from MTN because vodacom is almost 3x more expencive on their contract handset.

The N95 has only been launched last week in Cape Town. We have not even had evaluation samples yet. I expect it to be available late Nov.

That's how they sell. Next they will bring out the N95i with Blackberry or maybe a N94 (if there isn't one yet) without the GPS.:D

How long then?

I was wondering if you guys (esp MTN_DATA_DUDE) can give us an idea of how long the whole process takes.

Obviously the phone must be tested and ICASA approved, and with the release data of 1st Q 2007, that could be anywhere till the end of March.

I'd guess that there would be a number of things that must happen before the phones land in store....

1) Does the testing only start when the phone gets released, or do the manufacturers (in this case, Nokia ) make some phones available for that purpose ahead of time?

2) Obviously, the phones need to be ordered and shipped (other posts on the forum mention times of 3 to 4 weeks). If they are available end of March 2007, does that mean they can be ordered FROM that date, or are they shipped FROM that date, or are the ordered and shipped in advance, in time to have them in store for the release?

3) ICASA. How long do they typically take to approve a phone? And how does influence the finall avaivalablity date?

I was due for an upgrade just over a week ago, but would like to hold out for the N95. It would nice to know how long I can expect to wait for that baby
