There has been mention about this phone quite a lot on the forums, I myself am waiting for this phone, drooling
 
Yep if they are going they are going to pull this ish that that they did with the N96 its going to be a waste. They should drop it while its hot, not in 6 months when it prob. will be mediocre.
 
Nokia have announced that the highly anticipated Nokia N97 will be released sometime in June. The announcement was made at this years Mobile World Congress and it appears Nokia will have a busy schedule ahead of them following a similar announcement about the Nokia N86.

Skype is developing a VOIP (voice over Internet Protocol) software client for Nokia's top-of-the-range N97 smartphone, executives of both companies said Tuesday.

Nokia will load the application onto phones before they ship. It will be integrated into the phone's address book, making it as easy to place a call to a contact's Skype username as to their regular phone number, said Skype Chief Operating Officer Scott Durchslag.

Wonder if Vodacom will allow this software on their branded phones?
 
Read today the the N97 will be launced on the 23rd of June at the staggering price of $1100 (US).

Even on a Talk 1000 that will boil down to a couple of thousand of rands pay-in (when we eventually get it). :(

Apparently the launch was delayed to alter the Symbian OS to handle multi-touch and gestures on the touchscreen (similar to the I-Phone). Also the HSDPA spec will apparently be upgraded from 3.6 to 7.2.

Expansys have it listed at around R9,500 :sick: already. Release date is June 23rd, so its best to wait till then for more realistic pricing.
 
Damn, now I don't know if I should wait for this phone. Looking very good. I'm going to get it on a US contract, I wonder if AT&T will offer it. Going for a Blackberry from Vodacom I think. Can't make up my damn mind anymore. :mad:
