Nokia netbook on the way

Nokia, the world's largest maker of cell phones, said Monday that it will start making a small, light laptop, similar to ones PC manufacturers are already selling through wireless carriers around the world.

I used to work for nokia in the days they were making pc. Their stuff was good quality and the screens were highly rated. But before it was nokia it was erricson who made the pc which was later taken over by nokia

Disappointed its running Windows. I think that's a major step backward. Why not use Moblin, UNR or develop their own desktop environment?

Yeah, Nokia just partnered with MS to support Office Live on their phones. So this is an interesting move. My thought is that if you sleep with Microsoft, you come off second best. Or your consumers do. MS will always act to ensure that their products and services come out on top.

OT, what's happening with Apple? They launch the Air, which effectively popularises the Netbook format, it's pretty carp on the spec side and then they don't follow it up? IMO they dropped the ball big time and let the other guys in.
