Rumored/leaked specs:

4G/LTE compatible

10.1 inch, 1920×1080 resolution display, PureMotion HD+

Around 8.5-9 mm thin

2.1 Ghz Snapdragon 800 Quad-core processor, Adreno 330 GPU

32 GB storage

MicroHDMI port

Black, White, Red, Cyan colors to be available

Battery equipped Keyboard Cover

Any of this sounds familiar?

Surely does to me.

The only surprise is the colors - radical (for tablet space right now).

Aren't there easier, less complex ways to lose money... :p

I was very impressed, until I remembered what OS it would be running.:wtf:

I'd only agree with you if you are refering to the RT version. Otherwise, you are just being a perenial Windows naysayer or Phandroid / iFan.

There is rumor that Nokia will release the tablet in both RT and full Win8.

Aren't there easier, less complex ways to lose money... :p

Again, this only applies if they will be producing RT versions only.

IMO, RT should be the Win OS for 8" tablets. Full Win8 is a winner on 10" and larger. If Nokia produce full Win8 tablets, Android and iOS tablets will soon be relegated to the ''glorified toys'' status they really belong to.

Why are the colours surprising? Those ARE the Windows phone colours aren't they?

Its the first time that a leak has shown the prototype in a colour other than black.

It is Nokia's approach but it wasn't confirmed for tablets till now.

It would be radical for the tablet space nevertheless. Soon, every OEM will release various coloured tabs and claim that they released tablets in multiple bright colours before Nokia.

I'd love to see the metric you use to justify this claim

No well if you look at the colour set used by the Lumia range it makes sense that their flagship tablet would come out in the same colours. The previous tablets have been artists impressions.

We know it's not "sales"...what people actually want seems irrelevant.

The traction that Nokia has drawn already in its short WP life should be a pointer.

Or are you waiting for it to ultimately hit you like a ton of bricks. The sales are not the same as for Android or iOS devices, but the writing is on the wall. Double digit growth in all quarters this year and next year.

Nokia is back - with a vengence.

The problem is that they will need to go Android to stay afloat. MS still only makes up less than 5% of the market share.

By your logic, everybody should just go Android, even Apple since they are losing market share to Android.

Further, to reiterate Nokia's come back, your article states the following:

"There's better news, perhaps surprisingly, for Microsoft, with its Windows Phone mobile operating system showing 77.6 percent growth during the second quarter, pushing ahead of rival Blackberry. Microsoft, which accounts for 3.7 percent of the smartphone market, shipped 8.7 million Windows Phone devices in the second quarter, compared to 4.9 million in the same period last year.

Blackberry, on the other hand, sold 6.8 million smartphones, down 11.7 percent compared to the 7.7 million it shipped in the second quarter last year, seeing its market share shrink to 2.9 percent.

Ryan Reith, a programme manager at IDC said, "Last quarter we witnessed Windows Phone shipments surpassing BlackBerry and the trend has continued into the second quarter.

"Nokia has clearly been the driving force behind the Windows Phone platform and we expect that to continue."

To put it in another way - you should be telling Apple (who are losing market share) to go Android, not Nokia (who are gaining market share).

Microsoft should release an x86 version of Windows RT is free to download maybe then you'll see better app support

Why would they? They aren't sitting barely in front of Blackberry in marketshare.

Well that would just put them into direct competition with the Microsoft's Surface Pro.

Which tools, just out of interest? Bar the desktop apps of course.

they all desktop apps but thats the point... windows 8 pro really does relegate the ipad/android tabs to the toy section

On paper perhaps, the truth is the x86 tablets aren't doing well, even with the price drops. I would rather get a decent notebook than an x86 tablet as it seems the same level of performance can't be reached in tablet form.
