Nokia working on two new MeeGo devices?

Seriously, that'll kill the company stone dead. Android provides no differentiation, so they'd compete only on hardware, and the SE Asians will out-produce and out-price them.

Whats stopping them from doing the exact same thing to Windows Phones? Last time I checked you get HTC. Samsung, LG and so on Windows Phones as well.

Oh and Nokia has started to move their factories to Asia as well. so there goes that argument.

The Nokia N9 does not actually run MeeGo, but rather an instance thereof. It is Nokia's Debian based Harmattan kernel (Maemo) with the Maemo Qt based APIs. They used the MeeGo name because of the marketing that had been associated with it. It has also been public policy that Nokia would continue with the development of Harmattan for use in cheaper feature phones.

In other words this article simply states what Nokia have already been saying.

MeeGo not dead, two new devices incoming?

Nokia has plans to resuscitate MeeGo operating system with two new devices in the pipeline...

Meego is dead, long live Meego.

So, nobody here has heard about Meltemi? The much rumoured variation of Meego that will, maybe, replace the current Series 40 OS. Bringing with it the Qt development framework.

I cannot wait for Nokia to move their feature phones onto a real OS. As for what is really happening, Nokia are more secretive than Apple. For all we really know, Nokia might be releasing a newly modified form of moss.
