Several days ago it was reported that Nokia’s new CEO, Stephen Elop, published an internal memo that summarized Nokia’s current position in the market and how the Finnish firm was “standing on a platform”. The platform Elop was alluding to was the story of a man who worked on an oil rig and how we was awoken one night by a huge explosion. His rig was on fire, about to collapse, and he had to make a choice: to jump in the frigid sea, in order to save himself and live another day, or be consumed by the flames.

Woops... anybody want to buy some Nokia shares?

An Android powered aluminum unibody Nokia smartphone will be a sure winner. Just do it (and get over those egos).

Pity. Nokia's higher end phones are awesome for business-related use. Android can't even sync properly with MS Exchange...

I strongly believe Nokia should go the Android route. MeeGoTooSlow ... Symhasbian ... Android fast!

It has been said on here many times but some still argued: "The first iPhone shipped in 2007, and we still don’t have a product that is close to their experience." Now that the Nokia CEO said it I hope the matter is settled.

Nokia can still be a major cellphone manufacturer like Sony Ericsson, HTC or Samsung & differentiate themselves with quality built handsets.

I know for a fact HTC's profits are insane. Now if Nokia gets rid of the big ego (let's face it, they faaked up big time), they can become a profitable company again.

Well... Nokia doesn't. Doesn't say anything about Android having surpassed it. :D

oh for the love of god! nokia should just put android in its phones and be done. i was waiting for my upgrade end of this month to get the n8, but whats the point now. when nokia finally grows a pair and uses android they wont support symbian 3 , and i will be stuck with an outdated os.
se arc better be released quick.

Well, well....looks like Nokia is gonna turn to the dark side. NO!!!!!!!

Vic Gundotra from Google just said "two turkeys do not make an eagle", so if he's bashing Nokia, then it means they're getting into bed with Microsoft. :(

Update on the same link:
Update: Oh snap. We were just reminded that there's some serious history behind "two turkeys do not make an eagle" -- it's what former Nokia VP Anssi Vanjoki said in 2005 about BenQ buying Siemens's failing handset business. We'll remind you now that Vanjoki said back in September that using Android is like peeing in your pants for warmth, so we suppose Gundotra's been waiting for a little payback -- although his timing's a little off, since Vanjoki just made a very public exit from Nokia after being denied the CEO job, Still, though -- is any burn sweeter than the obscure European handset business history burn? We don't think so.

:D

Oh, bit of payback to Nokia for what they said in 2005. :D

Using Android is like peeing in your pants? No wonder Nokia didn't last....they made fun of Google and paid dearly. Very sad.

Apple's not going anywhere, you can hate them all you want but look at the results. It's more popular than ever!
