Non-coffee source of Caffeine

Yep but sleep wastes like 8 hours a night. Terrible.

Looks like the alternatives are basically caffeine pills or finding some way to extract caffeine from coffee :D

+100
All flavours just not rooibos.
And you can make ice tea...

Tea has more caffeine than coffee. I'm hyper sensitive to caffeine i can drink coffee but tea is a big no no.

Depends on the coffee, instant is bad but fresh filter is good, almost no caffeine. The caffeine is in the oil of the coffee bean so the longer it soaks.... bla bla more caffeine.. did the whole study.... i love coffee and couldn't just never have it again… But if I have tea (regular) my heart goes into palpitations and I pass out.

Well, Green Tea doesn't seem to work too well - it has a little bit of an effect on me but not nearly enough.

But it doesn't have enough caffeine, sorry had to rule that one out to... it has caffeine but not much. The normal stuff like five roses and earl grey real english tea and lekker strong....

Coke works well for me but who wants to drink all day? I'd prefer something that I can chew and that is economical.

I can drink a cup (or 2) of tea or coffee, put down the cup, get into bed and fall asleep straight away.

I have no idea what says about me/my constitution :)

Probably the same as me blunomore - I don't seem to be hit very heavily by caffeine unless there's a helluva lot of it. Looks like buying caffeine powder costs a helluva lot - approx R1000/kg so sod that.

Glucose gives me a shot of energy every now and then but nothing to brag about. Perhaps I'll make my own energy drink.

@Debbie: That's cos tea isn't for little people ;) *flees*

Oke and i say this but please do not tell your doctor i told you this....
The best caffeine boost is Grandpa... then if you mix it with some thing like a energy drink it's going to make you hop.

one GP has 64.8 mg caffeine...
Say no more...

That is if caffiene works... some people just do not have any side effects and sleep like rocks...

Werl yeah that's a consideration - maybe caffeine just doesn't work so well for me :)

Headache tablets also contain caffeine - almost as much as Grandpa IIRC. Bit shadey going down that route though :D

Grandpa has huge doses of aspirin and paracetamol. Not a viable regular caffeine source if you want to preserve your liver and you body's ability to filter toxins.

It's on the packet.... and redbull only have 0.09mg....

I have to read the content of every pill before i use it...

Redbull has never cut it for me.

Had some more green tea and blegh - it tastes like grass :D Even if it did give me energy I'd be hard pressed to drink a lot of it.

Agreed that is the most disgusting stuff i ever tried to drink....

Weeeell, I wouldn't say the most disgusting but it sure comes a close second. If you load it with sugar it's not tooo bad but then it's really just like sugary grass-water.

how about bioplus... 90mg of caffeine per serving... same as a strong cup of coffee. http://www.adcock.co.za/ConsumerCareProduct.aspx?ProductId=361

edit: Tea definitely has less caffeine than coffee. see here: In general, each of the following contains approximately 200 milligrams of caffeine:

* One 200 milligram caffeine pill
* One 12 fluid ounce cup of regular Starbucks coffee (355 millilitres)
* One and one quarter 16 fluid ounce cans of Monster Energy (590 millilitres)
* One and a half pounds of milk chocolate[a] (680 grams)
* Two 8 fluid ounce containers of regular coffee (470 millilitres)
* 1/2 tube of Spazzstick Caffeinated Lip Balm
* Two Foosh Energy Mints
* Two Buzz Bites Chocolate Energy Chews
* Two and a half 10 fluid ounce bottles of Bawls caffeinated drink (740 millilitres)
* Three 6 fluid ounce cups of black tea (0.54 litres) (70 mg per 6 oz cup[1])
* Three standard Excedrin pills
* Three 8 fluid ounce cups of Red Bull energy drink (710 millilitres)
* Four 8 fluid ounce cups of Vault energy drink (1.0 litre)
* Five 1 fluid ounce shots of espresso from robusta beans (150 millilitres)
* Five 8 fluid ounce cups of Mountain Dew (1.2 litres)
* Five 12 fluid ounce cans of typical soda (1.8 litres) (variable)
* Eight and a half 8 fluid ounce cups of Coca-Cola Classic (68 fl oz is approximately 2.0 litres)
* Ten 8 fluid ounce cups of green tea (2.4 litres)
* Fifty 8 fluid ounce cups of decaffeinated coffee (12 litres)

edit: 1 kg of caffeine is equivalent to 10,000 cups of coffee. So R1000 per kg isn't so expensive.
