So, lend me your excellent brains folks.

I hate coffee. Every type, every flavour, every strenght. It's vile.

I quite like coke but it's pretty pricey. Is there any alternative source of Caffeine? How about Caffeine Pills? Do we get them here?

Yeah you get caffeine pills..."regmakers" that they sell in packets of ten providing 150mg of caffeine each. They sell them at most pharmacies and i think i've even seen them at Pick 'n Pay.

Excellent. Perhaps I should take a look. I've had some of Thinkgeek's stuff before and while it's great it's a bit expensive for a regular habit.

You can get caffeine strips (similar to those breath-freshener strips you put on your tongue) at many petrol stations. Alternatively, Red Bull or similar energy drinks usually contain copious amounts of the stuff.

Yes but redbull is not exactly the cheap option is it? If coke is to pricey don't see redbull fitting in his budget. Can i ask why you want caffeine though?

Oops - skimmed it. But pound for pound, might work out cheaper to buy one red bull than 3 cokes for example. Not sure, I don't drink sodas so have no idea what they cost or what their comparative caffeine content is...:o

Well i don't drink anything but water myself but i know coke and that is like 6 bucks or something, redbull at most places is like 17 bucks, play have a huge 440ml for like 13 bucks.

I doubt coke has that nearly as much as redbull though, i have never physically felt energized by a coke but a rebull sorts you one time so your onto something plus i don't think redbull is nearly as fattening as coke :p, well not with quantity of coke you would need to drink to get to one redbull.

Can someone tell me why one would want caffeine pills or strips? I am not so sure its that addictive or is it very addictive?

Aah coke's not actually too expensive :D I used to have a coke habit (+- 6l/day) and that gets quite pricey.

@killadoob: I know the pills are sometimes used in high doses for a quick high.

I want caffeine for the same reason anyone else does - to stay awake :D I'd also accept solutions that mean I never have to sleep again.

I'm trying Green Tea tonight... will let you know if it works ;)

If you ever get this right, let me know. I find sleep to be the most unproductive activity.

You could try eating some barracuda - the after-affects have left me with insomnia...

Uberman sleep schedule :D

or polyphasic sleep.

Only 2-3 hours sleep a day in half hour bits every few hours. Still want to to it to see if it works, sleep is so overated!

Depends what u want it for.. Regmakers is cool a good kick in to action sort of way.. but its just caffeine mostly and thus not good for prolonged use or depending on number hrs you will want to stay awake AND active. (pending type of activity and your caffeine tolerance)

There is also Bioplus, but i mainly used the effervescent. Uhm thing is you have to drink it with 500ml water shaken, cold is nice :p but like coffee you will need to go to the loo eventually and again pending tolerance levels you will smell it when u go to the loo.. weird odd thing to wonder when u been up for long time when u take study breaks lol.

I'd say you for daily to when-u-need-a-quick-boost use, liverton is awesome :) problem is, and i guess bioplus liquid does the same is.. it contains some alcohol. Now it shouldn;t exactly get u drunk or anything.. but then i have head of people stopping using a spoon and gulping down a guestimate of the dosage which eventually encompasses quite a bit of the bottle lmao. but stick to the dosage its cool.

Think mine enjoys it at the bottom of the pool :D

/*runs off to find recipe on the internetz

Tea and cola has aprox half the caffeine as strong filter coffee on a mg caffeine/per ounce of liquid substance basis (herbal tea excluded)
Red Bull has aprox 80mg Caffeine per 12 ounce can which equates to 1 cup of strong filter coffee.
Caffeine pills are the strongest form of caffeine
Energy drinks also mix Gurana with the caffeine to "turbocharge" the drinks so they'll be stronger than caffeine alone.
