Hi Guys, a quick question, I am thinking of using OpenWeb as my ISP because of their Local + openbrowse options, but I would like some clarity on how their options work. If I take the 30GB-Local +OpenBrowse 384k, do I get to download/upload 30GB worth of data locally and then only after that is finished do I get to surf internationally at a limited 384k speed. Or do I get 384k speed on international downloads with an unlimited amount of data but only 30GB of local content. And what speed is my local content limited to? Is it only limited by my telkom line speed?

Their website is not very informative and I cannot open their forum's site.

Ive included the pricing they have on their site:

Download++ DSL accounts:
--------------------Backbone--------Intl.CAP--Local CAP--MonthlyCost
10GB-LOCAL............IS.....................0GB.........10GB.........R69

30GB-LOCAL............IS.....................0GB.........30GB.........R130

30GB-LOCAL
+ OpenBrowse 192k..IS & OpenWeb....192k.........30GB.........R190

30GB-LOCAL
+ OpenBrowse 384k..IS & OpenWeb....384k.........30GB.........R220

Otherwise I would like to keep my DoBroadband1 (for international surfing) and then take their 30GB local only account for downloads. Can I use the Do1 connection on 3 of my home PC's using PPPoE and then do a "bridge" from my other PC via the telkom router to the local only connection? Or would i need to use route sentry?

Thanks a million.

Ps. If I have any terms wrong, please forgive me.

with openbrowse you can only browse web pages, no downloads. But on some occasions they allow for downloads. And there is no cap on the openbrowse.

Your heading does not follow with the data - the international cap bit doesn't belong...

Well, this is how I understand it... You have 30GB of data (IE upload and download combined. Some would argue you have between 30 and 40 GB because IS is not as stict with capping as SAIX is but they are getting stricter with time. So you will have between 30 and 40GB total data usage allowance per month)

Now when you browse/download/etc locally, you get your full line speed (or at least as fast as the network can supply you and as fast as your line can handle IE no restrictions in speed are imposed. You can do anything locally IE not restricted to browsing only like the international is)

When you browse internationally (it's meant for browsing only) then you will be throttled in speed to the equivalent of a 384 ADSL line (IE about 40 KBps speeds)

So you can use the 30GB either completely for international browsing or partly for international browsing and partly local browsing/downloading (or just use it all locally, but then why the premium for OpenBrowse ;))

Thanks guys! Its nice to know there is somewhere were your questions can be answered!

I think I'll go with the OpenWeb 30GB for local and the Telkom 1GB for international.

Searching for RouteSentry now.

In other words openbrowse can be used to download http downloads at 40kbs a sec?
