Noob's guide to purchasing demo models?

Excuse me if I'm being dof but what does this mean ?

New cars often come with service or maintenance plans, where the selling company will cover some or all aspects of the car's service costs. When the car was first 'sold' can have an impact. Dealers sometimes 'sell' cars to themselves when they need to reach a target. Look at this example:

I buy a brand new car on 1 Jan 2020, it comes with a 5 year maintenance plan. If we ignore km/yr, I would expect to have services covered by the dealer on 1 Jan 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.

If however, I bought the same car as a demo on 1 Jan 2020, but the dealer 'sold' it to itself on 30 June 2019, then the car would be due for a service on 30 June 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 & 2024, at which point the maintenance plan would run out.
