Nootropics

Not on any stacks at the moment. I was going to try again in the new year
Yeah, used with CDP-choline
CDP-choline is really expensive locally - cheapest I can find it online (from a SA-based website, even tho they still import it) is R420...costs more than the piracetam :). Did you mange find it locally stocked in a chemist/health food store?

VitaCost prices are unbeatable, even after international shipping and customs costs, and you'll find products not available locally like Lion's Mane and high potency Bacopa. Highly recommended.

I've used Piracetam, PS, CDP-choline, Bacopa, Lion's mane, ALCAR, ALA in various combinations and trials for months. PS and Bacopa are the cleanest with no negative side effects. The rest of the stuff have side effects, like splitting headaches, especially Piracetam. You pay the price for any benefits gained from risky supplements like those, and the benefits in my experience were not substantial.

Really want a bang for buck cognitive enhancement? Olive oil. A couple tbsp of olive oil a day eaten on whatever, like a salad or something. Man. It knocks any $100 cognitive supplement out of the park, easily.

Not necessarily due to pure cognitive enhancement, but because of the overall feeling of well-being, which makes it easier to focus, be attentive and patient. Contrast that to the use of Piracetam, which makes you somewhat mentally hyperactive and fidgety, and then you have irritation and crash afterward. In my experience the longevity of mental performance is more valuable and effective than short bursts of performance at the cost of reduced quality of life.

The olive oil acts very much in the same way as Ibuprofin (pain relief medicine), but it's super healthy. Want to know what it feels like to have your brain lubricated? Olive oil. It literally feels like your brain is floating and soaking in a lovely oiliness, it feels so healthy.

And cardiovascular exercise. I do 10 minutes total of star jumps a week, and it suffices for now.

I think we might have pm'd before :). Fwiw you can find bacopa locally at most health-food stores that stock the Himalaya brand of supplements. Lions Mane is also available locally: http://medimushrooms.co.za/lions-mane-2/. Granted it's not a full spectrum extract (they only use the fruiting bodies) and they only seem to use an alcohol-based extraction...but it's a reasonable alternative for those wanting to test the waters. The Himalaya bacopa I'm happy with...the Lions Mane I think I'll import full-spectrum the next time round along with some reishi. The bulk powders aren't too expensive. The choice of certain supplements locally is dismal though.

How much do you typically pay for shipping and what shipping option do you choose?

You just have to compare the potencies and extract weights between local products and VitaCost products, because in my experience local products have only a fraction of the actual extract and potency of VitaCost options. So I usually calculate the R/potency and VitaCost almost always comes out on top.

$12 shipping for an order of 6 pill bottles, plus maybe about 16% of the items value for the customs payment.

You make olive oil sound like a miracle!

Olive oil changed my life. Seriously.

Remember, the mainstream won't emphasize the health benefits of natural produce, because there's no money it for Big Pharma.

Consuming 5 tbps/day of olive oil has significantly reduced my physical irritation and increased my short attention span. Things that coffee usually fixed, but without any withdrawal symptoms or crashes.

I sleep way better. My cognitive performance longevity is greatly improved. I'm more patient and calm.

No more food cravings. I used to always go looking for sugar/salt junk food to satisfy cravings. No more. Better digestion and an overall feeling of being sated and satisfied.

My skin and hair is better than it has been in a long time. I get massive morning wood too. Olive oil's amazing man.

If olive oil lubricates a brain, then MCT oil sets mine on fire!

That's interesting, where do you buy MCT oil?

I've been reading MCT oil reviews on Amazon, and the benefits experienced are pretty much exactly what I've been experiencing.

Brain Octane - "If you have risk of kidney stones, consult with your physician before using this product."

Quick tip: Eat bananas and citrus fruit to prevent calcium oxalate crystals from forming into kidney stones (hearsay).

Brain Octane and MCT oil is quite expensive for a student like me, but maybe I'll resort to coconut oil in addition to olive oil for the time being. Thx for the info.

Normal MCT is not expensive. MCT is a subfraction of what is in coconut oil. I would still have coconut oil, but supplement it a bit with some MCT if you want the ketogenic effects.

Aniracetam & Noopept detained by customs :(. Fark. Cba to get an MCC license - too much hassle & money & red-tape. Customs can keep it.

The increase of fats in your daily diet (olive oil) helps a lot when it comes to brain function (focus etc like you mentioned)

That's why LCHF diets are easy to maintain. You become a lot less sluggish, more focussed, get more done, more energy etc

Even if you don't do low carb, I'd recommend getting in a good amount of fats

Someone sent me a pm the other day re. a nootropic. I must've accidentally deleted your pm as it's not there anymore. Send me another message if you want to :).

New local company Higher Self that's started selling a few things. Quite a limited selection right now, but I think they're aiming to grow their range so hopefully we'll have a decently stocked local source for nootropics and other supplements and things that are often quite difficult to find here. My order came with a free sample pack which is pretty cool:

And delivery was quick :). Very friendly & helpful.
