DSL Statistics

Near End F4 Loop Back Count 0
Near End F5 Loop Back Count 0

Those are the stats of my line taken from my Mega105WR. For some unknown reason, my line will randomly desync, and not bother to sync for about 5 minutes before it syncs again.

Its not like that constant dropping, where you line stays stable for 5 minutes before it loses sync and syncs back. This one just loses sync once, doesn't sync for 5 minutes, comes back, and is "A" okay for about an hour, before it does it again.

I've monitored those stats between two desyncs, and they don't fluctuate at all.

Any ideas?

Been having the same problem for a while now.

Router: Billion Bipac 5200s (Latest Firmware)

ADSL drops constantly. Had 1140 disconnects in January which renders an ADSL connection useless.

Any help?

Have you guys tried to ask Telkom to do a port refresh on youre line? Had the same problem quite a while ago, the DSL line can build up "Resistance " and then cause the line quality to go down the drain.

Secondly you can try to degrade you DSL profile from 4 Meg to 3 Meg, as DSL is a best effert service; this "downgrade" could actually give you the same line speeds.

Noob Question*

But where/who must I contact to do a port refresh on my line.

There so many telkom numbers. :(

Thanks for the help at least now I have some Idea of how to solve my problems

I've done the port refresh thing twice. It simply doesn't work. I don't think my piece of copper is shielded from water, and my area has had heavy rains recently. Thats when the problem started. =/

If the port refresh didn't work then you will need to report a line fault with Telkom for a technician to be dispatched. Also certain lines can't handle 4096kbps line speed. It's in certain instances advisable to downgrade you're line to a lower speed for ex. 3072

#1 your stats seem very decent, no reason why your line should drop sync. Do you still have voice dialtone on the same line while the modem is desynched? Try using routerstats to graph your noise margins to see if there is any kind of SNR drop pattern/frequency, or if it simply just cuts and restores. If you cant seem to find the problem , log a fault

how I did it is I logged in with internet explorer, keep the window open so its authenticated, then use routerstats to get the info from the html generated page. its pretty tricky but its possible. dont have a mega 100wr anymore as it got nailed by lightning or i'd help u through it
