A warning to those of you who are thinking, or planning, to use Norton Ghost with windows when there's an opensuse partition and Grub boot manager installed - Don't do it...

Hosed my system :(

At least the data is intact, but the boot manager's totally screwed up, have to reformat by the looks of it.

Bah.

At least it's a good excuse for tomorrow :D

And I need to redo my PC anyway.

Funny enough, I recently had an issue where I had cloned an IPcop machine at my old high school onto a second hard drive for emergency purposes. They needed to make use of that last week, and discovered that the cloned copy wouldn't load on the same machine that it was cloned from. Grub just hung on the line that said GRUB.

I used Acronis True Image bootable CD for the task, and it worked no problems on a different Windows system.

I can't help but feel that maybe it's GRUB for some reason. I remember Lilo usually working first time. Maybe it's because that second hard drive was a different make from the main one. Something I still need to investigate for them before I go back next week.

Wonder if it's just some bit of Linux trickery I haven't learnt yet or what
