The ANC were on 2 thirds earlier today...but not anymore. From Elections.org.za website:

Results as at: 24/04/2009 04:13:28 PM

ANC: 66.41 %

My prediction is they will fall just short of 2 thirds...what you guys think?

2 thirds = 66.666*% ....hmmm....just noticed the number now, lol!

...the projection is for around 65%
the big metro's are still outstanding and the trend is that the ANC is getting in the lower 60's from the provinces with urban votes.
So the ANC will proablably get 65% or less

Hmmm...gonna be watching eagerly for the next 24 hours. Some guy on 702 was saying they thought ANC would get at most 65%...more on 60%. Think thats still possible...cos 5% difference is a lot when most of the votes have been counted already

If they get 65% or less I'll cream myself. It'll be the best thing that's happened to our democracy in a long time.

I'm hoping that their votes freeze (ja-ja... dreaming) and the rest go to the DA or Cope :)
In reality.. I am looking at 63-64% for the incompetents :D

you mean best thing since last election ?
Erm.. last election they got more than 69%? Best thing since like 1994 maybe. They lost a province already, if you add less than 65% to that, now that's awesomeness right there.

What difference does it make. ANC will still be the national gvt plus 8 out of 9 provinces.
65% is a damn good figure considering a split that happened with COPE.
they had 62% without any split in 94'

the lower than 2/3rds means they won't be able to change the constitution to stop people in power being prosecuted at the very least...

I find it hard to see how you can't see the positive in this? This is the first time since 1999 that the ANC have lost a province in an election? And they have lost it convincingly. It's the first time EVER that the ANC's support in an election has decreased from the previous election. This will be the first time the ANC is without a 2/3rd majority since 1994. I think it's great. The ANC will now need to work with other parties to change the constitution.

Also, the ANC has lost support in all provinces except KZN.

ANC now on 66.25% as at 16:57 on the IEC website.

So it seems they are dropping

That would be since 2004 ... I believe :)
1994=62.65......1999=66.35...... 2004=69.69

That was to be expected, the COPE dissidents account for the lost votes.
The DA has also lost official opposition status to COPE in 3 provinces which proves that the votes were not necessarily lost to the DA.

What I'm reading here is a clear sign of how "blind" you all are. The ANC will NOT be at 65%. Infact we are going to see a 67% for the ANC.

He shoots!!... He... misses! :P

Dude, do you WANT the ANC to get a 2/3s? If yes, why? Do you want a government that can just do as it pleases? If yes, why?

Please explain it to me, because I don't understand why the ANC supporters want to live in a 1 party state?

I'd like that crystal ball you're using for the lotto tomorrow if you don't mind unless you're an ANC politician who knows the vote is rigged for 67 % :D

That might be a good thing or a bad thing for the WC
We can then make up our mind if its worth taking the ANC's bullsh*t or not
If they don't try force control over the WC... they are in for a hiding in 2014 :D

65% of less and the DA gets 51% or more in the Western Cape. Then this election would have been worth it to get us back on the road we should be travelling!

BSNtombela, 65%, 67%, 69% is of academic interest, unless the ANC had intentions of amending the constitution.
They will still rule unopposed. They have ruled under the same constitution for the past 15 years...why would they change it.
