How do you fix the above again?

lol, nevermind me, I just get fustrated because you share IP Addresses of Vodacom so half the stuff I want to do, it gives me errors.

OperServ- The session limit for your host 196.207.41.251 has been exceeded.

As it says there, to many people on that host.

erm...noo... it means that a whole lot of people are connecting from the same IP to that IRC server. These are called clones, and prehaps vodacom should not be so cheap and buy a couple more IP`s. Got nothing to do with Network Address Translation, unless you are shoving lots of users through one IP address.

I went to a site yesterday, insulting me for abusing their services, then they said if you are receiving this message in error you are stupid for choosing whichever service provider you have chosen because they are not giving you free allround access to the internet. - They said something afterwards about companies that get people to login via a single I.P like W1z4rd has described now.

I guess while on Telkom, like I am now, I get my own I.P dont I. Using Vodacom 3G I share I.P's with other people, so I can get kicked from a network if someone else sharing it has been banned etc

IP v4 is the limitation here with a limited amount of IP's available. As much as we'd love to give every subscriber his own IP (we'll need about 20 million!) the limitation on available IP's is not helping.

The problem with a mobile network is every cell phone that supports GPRS can (and will) attach to the network and be assigned an IP. So we have to use the 10.*.*.* range and NAT it out on the internet.

We do have a pool of legal addr. and these are in the NAT pool, served on a first come basis. Once the pool is depleted all subsequent IP's are sent through the last one.

IP v6 will address this someday.

If you have a requirement for a unique IP, you need to call 155 and convince them to switch you to the internetvpn APN. That'll sort you.

I have switched all four our contracts to the vpn apn with no questions asked. Just call 155, wait a few hours and change your profile. Simple.

aah, sounds like a plan :) Thanks... for now I am just switching between Vodacom, MTN and my Cell C simcards when something happens like that, usually fixes the problem, but will give 155 a call soon :)

Edit: Or sometimes when I just reconnect it solves the problem

,but that will be understandable, if a IP becomes free or something

There obviously is a limited number of legal IP's available for the internetvpn APN, so it's important not to just hand them out. I suspect the forum is getting preferential treatment :)

me (to 155 rep): hi, i would like to be switched over to the internetvpn apn, please
155 rep: i'm sorry sir, but you will need to motivate this before we can do it for you.
me: well, i am a member of the myadsl forum...
155 rep: oh, i'm sorry sir, right away sir...

Don't think it's quite that good :) but the forum, or rather its members, do have a reputation for constructive co-operation with Vodacom.

We've had a number of problem situations where forumites worked with Vodacom staff to resolve issues resulting in a win-win for everyone.

It is always listed on the spam list - http://cbl.abuseat.org/lookup.cgi?ip=196.207.45.254

IP Address 196.207.45.254 was not found in the CBL.

It was previously listed, but was removed at 2005-12-24 16:20 GMT

It must be one of the IP's that get used for the PAT. Will check, but makes sense. You could get a legal IP by switching to the internetvpn APN but it won't be dedicated, so your problem will not go away.

As stated before, Vodacom policy is to only monitor and manage the smtp.vodacom.co.za address for blacklisting so as long as you use other smtp servers or run your own you have the potential to end up with a blacklisted IP.

can id switch to internetvpn APN on my phone or must I call 155?
