Not drinking alcohol for a month

I tried to go without alcohol since Monday.

Unfortunately I had a braai on Tuesday evening and again a fish braai tonight.

So I went without alcohol on only Monday night and Wednesday night.

Tomorrow is Friday night ... It doesn't look promising at the moment to going alcohol free tomorrow.

Day 3: The alcohol detox is not that difficult.. just have to avoid situations and places where I would drink (braai's, clubs etc)

The no-smoking part is proving a lot tougher, but by avoiding the drinking situations, I am finding it easier to stay away from smoking.

Will be babysitting this weekend, so that should make it easier to stay 'clean'..

Day 6: Still going strong. Nicotine cravings are diminishing. Can easily do without a drink as well.

What Foolishness be this here thread then!

It's all about moderation!

/ Moose be the king of moderation!

Moderation was never my strong point.. tend to binge drink quite regularly. A month long detox is a way of taking a break from that lifestyle, the subsequent hangover and the soon to follow bout of depression i.e. the 'what am i doing with my life?' period.

I don't get hangovers anymore.

I have trained my body and liver to perfection in "handling" large volumes of alcohol.

Another key step in avoiding getting a hangover is to NEVER go sleep while roaring drunk. Stay awake, no matter how long it takes (drink lots of water during this time), and then go to sleep.

A little bit of sleep deprivation is easier to handle than a hangover.

Ok.. Went out last night for the first time since starting my detox. Evening started well. Drank tea, dry lemon and then some non alcoholic beer. I was then coerced into going to the local club, where my resolve finally crumbled. Bought a bottle of Jameson select reserve and a few jeagerbombs.. And sadly also smoked about 10 cigarettes.. Ah well..

You bought a bottle at a club?!?!? How much did that cost you?

More concerning is the 10 cigarettes...smoking alot messes me up much worse than drinking. Must be my low blood pressure.
