I bought this screen

http://www.wootware.co.za/lg-23mp55hq-23-ips.html

On the Takealot daily deals. I cant help but feel like the screen is slightly blurry and hurts my eyes and after a while gives me a mild headache. I have tried calibrating it, as well as resetting it to stock settings. It does not have an auto adjust function in hdmi mode.

Should I take it somewhere to get help? Seriously frustrated. Is it just a POS monitor or what? The reviews on takealot seem to be good.

Sigh this is what happens when you buy cheap. Thinking of selling it otherwise

It should definitely be a decent monitor. R2k for a small screen is normal. Find out where your nearest LG customer centre is and have them look at it.

Using HDMI? Some screens just look fuzzy with HDMI. Not sure why.

If you're using an Nvidia GPU, those can sometimes have issues with running displays in HDMI. You can try disabling any scaling options inside the Geforce control panel. If this persists even with another device plugged in, the monitor itself could be faulty. If it doesn't it may be that the GPU isn't reading the EDID of the monitor correctly. Get in touch with Takealot, see what they can do to help.

Follow that link, you may have the issue many others got with grainy images on Radeon GPUs with particular Catalyst drivers. Uninstall your current ones, run Driver Sweeper, update to 14.12 and then report back with your findings. If your LG came with a driver disc, its worth installing that as well.

Reviews on takealot are all bull****, I've had friends make negative reviews about products and they mysteriously never get published.

I will do this thanks man. Also, when I try to install the driver from the disk. It says no INF file found in the installation and then installation failed. I have gone onto the piece of **** LG website and no luck there either. WTF can I do now?

Also to add, when i watch a 720p or even 1080p stream on youtube. It still looks more *** than the little 18 inch monitor I had before this one. Is it due to it having to stretch to 23 inch? Doesnt sound right

Use DVI. People seems to think HDMI is the best connection but it's not. It's the worste. When you use DVI most issues will go away

I get the feeling its got to do with scaling? Because when I first plugged in the monitor, it was scaled down with a black border around the screen. I then went to scaling options in the catalyst center and set it to 0% overscan so that there was no black border

I have an LG IPS 3D monitor using HDMI and there's no issues with the screen. Text is crisp and clear. Maybe try a different cable and see if the problem persists because I know one of the cheaper HDMI cables I have caused a flicker on one corner of the screen. I replaced it with an Astrum cable.

Sounds like you're VGA. Try using HDMI or DVI and make sure to use the monitor's native resolution.

Picture quality wise HDMI and DVI are identical.

Can you specify which calibration settings you used?

We've had customers that have had success with the below:

Brightness: 100
Contrast: 44
Response Time: Low
Sharpness: 5
Black Level: Low
Gamma: 0
Red: 100
Green:100
Blue: 100
Six Color adjustments all increased to 75.

Also, you can run the calibration test here to fine-tune, after applying the above settings: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/

Could just try and take a high res screenshot and upload it somewhere, an example of where it looks blurry.
We would be able to see it on our monitors.

Unless it's only blurry in motion.
