Not really the total cost

Prescriptive

15 years into democracy, and we are still being prescribed to by every Tom, Dick and MTN!! Thank you for taking them to task...... We are still used to having a finger pointed at us and been told what is best for us!?

We should stop falling for this type of advert and other "sorry that is the way it is" attitudes from suppliers.

Oh I love these articles! Funny indeed. People should stand up against misleading ads and so many people fall for it and then just accept it in the end and big companies know that.

yup always read the fine print.... always a catch.

for R27.00??? honestly!! find something else to do you loser!

Um i think the point here is that its the principle, not the R27.00, people like you let advertisers get away with things like this, you sir would fall into the "Okay big corporation i will abide by your rules and let you dictate to me" category.

Shame on you, shame on you. :p

when in the last 10years has anyone taken a contract and not been billed for CLI and itimised billing(even though most dont receive it):p its always in the T&C, he's lucky they showed him the "after VAT" amount:p

he should have questioned it in the first place, as i did and got out of paying that and the R2900.00 pay-in for my phone from MTN, because it didnt say so on the advertising:D

they just did it again.

MTN's ad in today's Die Burger newspaper have the per month prices, and then, in very small print (in Terms and Conditions) it states that Itemised Billing is optional for R19/month, and Caller Line Identity is mandatory at R8/month and not included in the price advertised.

How difficult can it be for a huge company like MTN to follow the advertising rules?

They can expect another complaint and another sanction from ASA. (probably a stronger sanction since they simply ignored the previous ruling)

I hate it when any company advertises something for a price where it is totally impossible to actually get the product at the advertised price. Advertising a contract for a "TOTAL" price of R49 MUST mean that I as a consumer can get the contract at R49.

You don't advertise a new BMW for R199 999 and then put in small print it excludes mandatory steering wheel at R10 000.

On extended data 40 MB, they advertise it at R69 and then in small print say "Calling Line Identity (CLI) at R8.00 pm is mandatory and not included in all Contract offers shown"
Mandatory CLI on a data contract?
