Hi there
This is for people who live in towns who use Telkom Mobile but piggyback on MTN - hopefully you went through the same thing and can help me.
I got an upgrade yesterday and put the new sim card in the new phone (S4 mini). I charged the phone fully and in the meantime I took my old phone and took out the sim card and battery (so that the old one with the same number would not be on the network). So the evening came and I switched on my phone and waited - but nothing happened. I then remembered that my wife had the same issue when she bought her S3 and took it to TM (which has since closed) and they changed the roaming setting so that she could use MTN on the network. I have changed every setting I can find but it still says "Not connected to network" when I try call. My wife's signal bar has the little "R" but I cannot get mine to use the roaming settings (although it lets me choose between via TelkomSA or via Partners). Anyone else have this problem and manage to solve it?
Thanks kindly from a tired, broken man.
