I have been reading this forum for a while people asking advice about cars, which car do buy and some have issues with their cars. The are cars that are not mentioned when people ask which car to buy and I have observed also these cars are not many on our roads. I'm talking about these cars

1. Chevrolet Sonic
2.Nissian Micra (I have seen few on our roads)
3.Peugeot cars

I see same cars been mentioned over and over it's either VW Up, Hyundai i10,Suziki Swift etc

They probably know something about those cars that we don't.

Didn't you buy a Brio? Are you happy with your choice?

With all the slagging budget cars get from keyboard warriors you will struggle to get decent feedback on the cheaper cars.

Bought a Datsun Go Lux for my SO and been pleasantly surprised by handling, comfort and spaciousness.

Maintai I bought it I'm so happy with my little bambino it's small but roomy inside

Because when one looks at things like safety and size vs value for money, second hand is usually better than new budget.

Grew up in an age where creature comforts and coddling weren't the order of the day. More people get injured by airbags and Maltese poodles than pitbulls by the way.

Normally people who ask for advice about cars to buy are on a tight budget and want something safe, reliable at an affordable price, hence the Japanese always dominate such threads, advising someone to spend their last money on a Peugeot is pure evil.

If you think the Datsun Go is a good car, think again...

We can accept some rough edges and cost cutting at this extremely budget-conscious end of the market, but the Go just doesn’t cut it, especially with its safety levels. Even at its price

A global car-safety watchdog has called on Nissan to immediately withdraw its Datsun Go model from the Indian market because it scored zero in tests for basic safety features.

Op there you can see what i meant by keyboard warriors who copy and paste old articles from agencies who never do their own research but are accepted as gospel.
Fiat Uno could only keep 3 wheels on the ground when cornering, no crumple zones or airbags.

I bet you don't use a smartphones either or use dail up internet cause living in the 90s is so cool.

I drove 2 Unos, each up to 150 000km, don't lie about this 3 wheel story. Yes, lie, not alternate facts, lie. About the crumple zones too.

So where is your crash video of the go, since you do your own research, so that we can see how it didn't fold up like a coke can.

It's fine to have bought it because it's cheap, but do not be under any allusion that it is safe in a 60km/h crash

What a bizarre statement.

Almost like helmets causing neck injuries.

If you were injured by an airbag you were in a pretty serious accident. If the airbag wasn't there you would be injured from a great many other things.

But I guess seat belts are also evil?

When I advised which cars to buy, I advised them according to their needs requirement & car segments of the same category and their budget along with the best in class with rivals and my experience. I don't always suggest them the most poplar cars. The first two you mentioned are not the best cars in it's class I have driven, it lags behinds its rivals, except for Peugeot but then everyone has different opinions and preferences. Because there are better cars out there than it's rivals in the same segment category. The best way to decide is to test drive each one and determine your needs or which one you like and do some research.

I have seen many Sonic and Micra on the roads. I don't see many Mitsubishi Outlander, Infiniti's, Alfa's, Citroen's, Subaru Outback, Subaru Legacy, Suzuki Kizashi, Suzuki Baleneo & Ciaz, Mazda6, Peugeot 308 & 2008, Fiat 500X.

Datsun Go is a good little car...right up till the point you are in Ann accident...then you have a much higher chance of dying than the car that hits you. How Nissan can sell those cars I don't know.

What about Renault Kwid?. The are so many Datsun Go in our roads I guess people are desperate to drive. Moving along I think Chevrolet Sonic it's a sexy car.

It's Sunday I just saw my all time favourite car Fiat Multipla

It is common knowledge if you've been exposed to Physics that a high centre of gravity is bad for cars, although the Kwid looks good in the eyes of the SUV obsessed SA public I will rather find myself behind the wheel of a Datsun, at least I will have a chance of manouvering out of a tricky situation.

You basically have to do your own research and decide on what appeals to you. Asking around will end up you having a list of the old tried and trusted cars that get recommended over and over.

Dude, what's with the hate towards Peugeots? The Peugeot 208 GTI is one hell of a pocket rocket, the new 3008 is causing some serious waves in the small SUV sector, and the Peugeot 508 remains one of the most underrated big sedans ever.

Peugeot doesn't make a single bad car: the 308, 2008 and even 108 are all good for what they do. The only people not talking about their lineup are the ones who are still stuck in the Polo/Fortuner mould.
