Not worth it anymore

This thread is not going to turn into another discussion of the news server. There's more than enough of that already both here and at newshost.za.net.

well there is some arm pulling going on here on whether he should keep his 4mb line. and there is a valid reason being given.

I have given up using my IS account during the day for anything other that local traffic - and then only "browsing-type" traffic.

I usually route my traffic so all local goes via IS and all intl via WA SAIX, but I ran out of SAIX the other day, and then the problems started.
I have taken up to 2 hours (and this is no exagerration) to download a 100kb (yes - no typo - I did not mean MB) file internationally.

Oddly enough, dialling up on my SAIX account, the file downloaded in seconds (proving it is not the remote site with an issue).

IS during the day may as well stand for "Inaccessible Surfing". Oh, for the record, I tried that same file on both 3GB and uncapped Business DSL.

Lol - whats the use of uncapped if you can never even reach 1gb in a month because of speed issues.

This is what's changed at Telkom: When you reach your cap, you are immediately (or close to) capped, instead of being able to use the full final 24 hours to download as much as you can.

So where previously you might have had say 100 people downloading 70GB in the last 24 hours = 7 TB, now those 7TB can be distributed among users to raise everybody's cap.

So if anything you should see higher caps.

In theory anyway.
