Hi guys.
Have anyone of you guys had any experience with these phones?

I currently have an iPhone 7 Plus.

Had a Note 3 previously and loved it. I am leaning towards the Note 9.

Besides general phone uses (calls, whatsapp, etc) I play games and stream movies. I also use phone to take photos on the fly.

Looking forward to your views.

PS: iPhone XS just too much for my liking.

Just hang on - the fanboys for both phones will be here soon.

I cannot comment on the Mate but as far as reviews go I think it is an excellent phone.

I have the Note 9 ( coming from LG V20) . I enjoy trying different phones out and might try the Mate next time around.

I really do like the Note 9 and use the camera and pen daily.
My best phone so far.
I don't play games on the phone, so cannot comment.

I think it is a personal choice - try both in-store and decide.

If the Mate 20 Pro features call recording, go for it. The Note 9 on Pie has become a dead device with call recording disabled on Android Pie. If neither of them support call recording, you may as well take just whatever you feel like. If I was to chose a phone that does not support call recording, I would have gone the iPhone. Much better established device in many ways. I chose Android devices over iPhone because of call recording, but now it has been removed, I miss the reliability and features of the iPhone.

I currently have the p20 and i am seriously enjoying it. coming from Samsung with the s6 edge. only thing I miss is the Samsung display. was truly a beautiful display. other than that Huawei has really taken my liking a hella lot.
and my next upgrade will be the mate 20 pro or p30 if its affordable.

hope it helps :)

^This.

Jut adding that there is no reason for upgrading from iPhone 7, unless you want the best camera on the market and other extraordinary features. If you do, please PM with your offer. I do regard Huawei as the best on the market, but I don't really like Google FoolPlay Services spyware. Will jump back to Apple on any occasion.

Why is call recording such a big drawcard these days? I'd never have even thought of using it. Client calls or something?

Yes, my business are all done by phone. I receive all my client instructions telephonically. We make agreements by phone. Recordings are fantastic, because I do not have to make notes. I simply go back to the recording a day or two later and can start doing the required work. In addition, if there are questions in regards to payments, I can always go back to the recording and send the client a copy thereof. These recordings can always be used in any criminal or civil case that may arise.

So, it is of utmost importance when I deal with clients that I have a call recorder.

If you just require a phone to show off or receive calls from friends or family when you are not at home or work, then you will obviously never need a call recorder. Unfortunately, looking at the biggest Android forums around the world, most people need this function. Google is already getting a hiding with Android 9 having the lowest and slowest uptake of all their operating systems due to call recording being removed.

Ah, makes a lot of sense for you then

Actually you do. You are given an address where to go, you don't need to take a paper and pen to write it down while you are driving. You are getting a shopping list from your wife, sometime a dozen of items. Forget one, you are busted. many other situations. It is the best to have recorder enabled on all your calls.

While I do agree with you 100%, looking at some of the comments on various threads in regards to call recording now being disabled, seems a lot of people never used it before or had any use for it. Apparently for some nothing they are currently missing.

You cannot go wrong with either device.

The Mate 20 Pro has a very diverse Camera setup that includes a Wide Angle Lense, Super Macro Mode, 3x Optical Zoom and 5x Hybrid Zoom as well as insane battery life that can get you about 2days of average usage and 40W Huawei Supercharging getting you from 0-100% in about an hour. Mate 20 Pro is also quite compact in size despite having the same size display as the Note9, the Mate 20 Pro has a body just slightly smaller than the S9+.

On the other hand the Galaxy Note9 has the awesome SPen which is quite the productivity tool with Bluetooth functionality, an incredible Display, and Samsung Pay which recently got FNB support.

Really depends on what is important to you. Both have IP68 Water and Dust Resistance to, so you are covered on that front.

I would say go in-store and fiddle with both for a little bit, see which one you'd prefer to have in your hand daily.

Thank you for all the feedback.

Still difficult one. Most probably make a call on the day, but my gut is going with Note.

Diehard Samsung user here, had dual sim Mate20pro 4 months now with GT watch. In all honesty none of the "new" innovations from Samsung can come close. Note9 has the spen, but is prev Gen hardware at processor level

Call Recording and the Android Pie Problem is a huge issue to me, any news on a solution would be good news.

How does that proccess work? I have a S10. What is the pro's and con's?

I've always rooted my Samsungs and even tripped Knox. That said I haven't had to claim on warranties on any of my devices except LGs. Banking apps etc can work. The limitations are outweighed by the customization you can achieve.
For now I'm using a Mate20pro and haven't found need to root yet as everything works without need to debloat.

I am not familiar with this what you call Rooting, I am not a tech junkie? I don't know what rooting is and how it is done.
Do you wipe the phone of all software, severing it from any links from its suppliers, nilling the warranty, and then installing shareware, or what? That is what it sounds like to me as a nincompoop?
