I'm looking for recommendations for Notebooks in the R6000 to R7000 range. Are there any brands that one should definitely stay away from. Makro are selling Fijitsu Siemens Amilo Li2727 (specs) for 6K odd. Is this good value or is there something better within the price range.

TIA

Makro's Fujitsu siemens range are really great value for money, I have one and it is still going great, I also know 2 other people that have bought Fujitsus and are very happy. Specs Vs Price you wont find better value. ;)

Happy with Amilo

I have been using an Amilo M7440G for the last two and a half years. Been very happy with it. I use it daily as my only computer, work and home. Had to replace the CPU fan about 4 months ago, R202 (VAT inc) + labour

On the contrary... You can get an HP 530 (Core 2 Duo T5200, 1GB RAM, 120GB HDD, DVD+/-RW, 15.4" WXGA) for between R6500-00 and R7000-00... That's about the best value you can get. If you are happy with Pentium Dual-Core (over Core 2 Duo), then how about the HP G7070ei ? It's a Pentium Dual-Core T2370, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, etc... But it also has integrated webcam, S-Video out and Altec Lansing speakers. That's about the same price as the HP 530
