Yes, I'm done mourning for my HP 530 :p

I've been looking around, and have a few questions, that hopefully someone with some experience with these products will be able to answer:

1) The AMD mobile processors... How are they? Not in comparison to Intel mobile processors, but on their own. Do they run hot? Do they perform well? I need a notebook that is mostly silent (so minimal heat -> minimal fan speed).

2) My current favourite is the HP 6730s
Specs:
  • Core 2 Duo T5670 @ 1.8GHz
  • 1 x 1024MB DDR2-800 RAM
  • 160GB Hard drive
Does anyone know for sure which integrated graphics comes with this notebook? I'm not talking about googling once and posting the first thing you find: I've googled and had mixed results. Online stores are advertising X3100 graphics, but I was to understand that X3100 graphics came with 965 chipset, whereas this notebook has PM45 or GM45 chipset, for which X4500 would be most likely.

Edit: Oh, and since the notebook has a Merom-2M processor instead of a Penryn processor, would it still be eligible for Centrino branding (it DOES have Intel wireless and GM45 chipset)?

I can comment on AMD notebooks (HP) they are crap ... a friend bought one a year ago and its poked - she lives in Canada and got the high end. She (is blonde) and just bought an ACER AMD. Had to work on it a few weeks back and it suxed. Integrated hardware and plain reliability.

At work we got Leonova Cores2Duo's and these things kick the AMDs notebooks.

Another thing I notices, except in Canada I presume, is that nobody really sells them and if they do they limit you to 1 or 2 models. Says a lot about them....

Thanks for the advice. I've heard a few horror stories too, but wasn't sure whether it was due to having an idiot outside or not having an Intel Inside :p
