Notebook for R5,000

A colleague of mine wants to buy a notebook, but only has R5,000 to spend. I know this is not a lot, but this is what he has and needs to buy the best he could for what he has to spend.

Any ideas/suggestions as to what and where, please?

The Compaq 610 and 615 range are good for normal use - prices range from about R4500 to R5500 - there's a few sellers on BoB that are good.

Samsung R519 - best bang for your buck. Which OS does he need - Pro or Home?

Then definitely an R519. You can get really decent Samsung for just a little over R5000....
