notebook quote - any good?

atm. i'm eyeing the likes of the W511A Gigabyte and the Acer TravelMate 4604WLMi. i'm slightly inclining towards the latter, but am still waiting on a better price (currently R13k+).

thoughts?

I would say look at HP.

The NX7010 [as previously mentioned] is brilliant value-for-money. Also look at the "Latitude" series of notebooks [Dell]

Have a Dell Inspiron 9300 meself, with P4 3GHz, 1GB RAM, and 17" wide screen (resolution 1920x1200). Brilliant! Was a bit expensive, but well worth it!

Makro has the best prices around on Laptops, Fujitsu Siemens, Amilo. Value for your bucks!!!!

Amilo M Centrino Mobile Technology Processor 1.8GHz Clock Speed

R 10,995.00

# "USB 2.0
# LI ION battery,firewire/TV out, 128MB V-RAM
# Built-in modem/LAN combo,double layer DVD WRITER-STORE UP TO 8.5 gb
# 3-in-1 Intergrated card reader
# Intergrated WLAN(802.11G)
# Microsoft windows XP home
# Extended battery life
#1024 DDR RAM
#80GIG HDD
#15.4" Display

yes, but i heard that the models from makro are generally lower spec, hence their perceived lower prices to the general public.

i'm also looking for a system with a decent vcard.
