Hi All,

I've been having alot of disconnects with the VMCLite software which autostarts when I plug in my Novatel MC950D Modem. I dowloaded and installed the Vodacom Mobile Connect software from http://www.vodacom.co.za/services/mobile_data/downloads.jsp and it seems to be alot more stable that VMCLite. No disconnects yet (connected for 2 hours now)

Is there a way to disable the autostart of the VMCLite software when plugging in the USB modem? I cant seem to find a way to do this.

Any ideas???

Yes, ginggs has a howto post for that - basically just disable the modem's drive letter in Windoze.

Hi IC,

There is no new drive mapping when the USB modem is connected.
I've also tried switching off the Autoplay setting for all devices using gpedit.msc (group policies) but VMCLite still starts up when inserting the modem.

Don't know what to do anymore....

Any other ideas??

After inserting the Modem, and the CR-ROM Drive pops up in My Computer, go to Disk Management, click on the drive associated with the Modem, click change drive letter and paths..., then click Remove.

Hi Iam3G,

I've done what you told me to:
- After inserting the Modem, and the CR-ROM Drive pops up in My Computer,
-> in my case nothing popped up and no drive was created
-> end up having to kill the MobileConnect.exe process in the Task Manager
-> after killing this process, the new drive was visible/
- go to Disk Management,
- click on the drive associated with the Modem,
- click change drive letter and paths...,
- then click Remove.

Seems like it's working fine now. I had to unistall VMCLite though.

Thanx for your help...

Much Respect!!!!
