November execution date set for D.C. sniper

killa, violent crime will never stop though, i agree it would be reduced, but the desperation (especially in SA) it would seem a more viable option for a criminal/psychopath

No i agree with you but i think the knowledge that you won't die if you kill this family does not help the criminals think about what they should do.

I think if the criminals know they will die if they kill this guy they have just hijacked then maybe they may not kill the person.

I have no problem with crime as i believe it is part of life but there is no need to murder a family when they pose no threat and i think only harsh punishment can solve that problem.

I also think the death penalty should happen faster, you get convicted you die. Not 10 years down the line they decide it is your time.

He was convicted of capital murder in Virginia then extradited to Maryland where he was convicted for six counts of first degree murder. There is also DC and a few more states (California, Arizona, and Texas) ready to try him should the need ever arise.

Really? He's known to have killed 16 people.

I'm in favour of the death penalty for such crimes, but just get the feeling that in this case the perp may welcome this because in his mind he'll be a martyr.

Wasn't 16 the total number of innocent civilians killed by him and his side-kick?

Am i the only who think the death penalty though should happen sooner? I mean some people sit on death row for 10+ years.

Damn man why does it take so long? Why is it such a process, last meal, get the family to come watch.

Frankie strap a pig to him and electrocute the Fuqer, kill the pig though before hand because there is no reason the pig should suffer.. Is the pig something they hate and you cannot get your virgins if you die with a pig? Something like that i cannot quite remember lol.

:D

I agree, once they are 100% sure of guilt, then execution must follow promptly.

Bringing the death penalty back won't actually be a complete deterrent.

Case in point, the state he lives in has the death penalty, it didn't deter him.

If someone wants to kill, they will.

Really? It is the ultimate deterent. Not one of the people executed has ever gone on to commit a similar crime.

Yet it hasn't stopped other people from killing, so it isn't as powerful a deterent as people make it out to be

I don't give a flying continental whether capital punishment is a deterrent or not. Fry the bastard. No need for 3 meals a day, and zero risk of repeat offence.

The thing is, in the USA it costs more to execute on average than it does to keep a prisoner alive in jail. It's to do with all the appeals that have to be done.

Also, the death penalty is not a succesfull deterant to crime.

In a perfect world anyone who kills (regardless) should be given a death penalty.
