Now it the time to prepare!

Again - stockpile WHAT?
I am not likely to use as many (say) tins of corned beef now as I would if I had no power / food etc.

This stockpiling paranoia thing is pointless.
Corned beef is ready to eat out of the tin but good luck finding it in the first place. :o

I found some a couple weeks ago and bought all they had - for no other reason than I'm a big fan of corned beef hash.

Cooked with cabbage. Maybe it is an easterner thing. Yummy! :)

BTW - found some black beans in a health store the other day. Almost bought them but still have a good stock of refried black beans to last until my next Mexican food run!

Still sound advice though. Troll or not.

Awesome thanks vespax...

I thought I was going to go home now without having a decent giggle...

The guy links an increase in interest rates to stockpiling food and you agree :D

classic...

I have been stockpiling frozen brussel sprouts for years now... I hate that ****... So if the world came to an end I would be stuck frozen brussel sprouts and pickled chillies :p....

If the only options are frozen brussel sprouts and pickled chillies it might be better just to end it all. :D

I'd guess rising interest rates would be more likely to prevent shortages anyway as they'd decrease demand.

You still have not said what one must stockpile?
In a real crisis any perishables are doing to spoil anyways.

Don't be foolish and stockpile food. Stockpile ammo so when Armageddon comes you can take what you need from those who stockpiled food ;)

You'll cut down on your heating bills then...you'll be able to heat your house all by yourself, and sell the excess gas to Eskom at a nice profit :D

yup and they are pickled Habenero's because I finished the nicer Jalapeños already...

Man those things burn so bad... The doctor told me to lay off :(

Watch out Gavin. If this is your plan, brussel sprouts and chillies may not have been the best choice of product combinations.

Missus wont let me cook cabbage in the house - of course that doesnt stop me from putting sauerkraut on my hotdogs when she's not around. :)

She's also not too keen on my making chili but a mans got to draw the line somewhere. :D

If everyone stockpiles, then there really wouldn't be any milk left :p what about that logic hey hey hey? MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE :D ;) :p

Well you do sound clever, but the reason there is now a milk shortage is that all of the rest of us have been stockpiling milk for WEEKS already!!! Looks like you missed out!!!

:D:D

Cool and when it curdles you can sell it back as sour cream... damn I missed a good business idea...

What would be a better idea is to go out now and buy a cow... no two cows and two chickens... and a sheep... no two...

Then you can get everything you need for a couple of months...

Not sure you neighbours are going to be happy though..

This reminds me of pre-94 when people actually emptied out there swimming pools and filled them with canned food...

a couple of months later they realised they had way to many baked beans and their pool was destroyed...

I don't remember the shops complaining though ;)

What if you didnt have a pool - could you use a cupboard?

Its just not as dramatic somehow. :D Maybe the plan was to fortify the pool so it could be defended? :D
With the recommended daily allowance of vitamins and minerals? :D
