Began experiencing the "Full Signal - No Connection" on Vodacom the last while, they also gotten same problems as Cell-C - ( sigh )

Cant say I have experienced this since porting back to Vodacom. I have noticed that every now and again my signal indicator bar on my phone will turn grey (instead of being blue). The "E" is still there meaning the data network is still being picked up. I think the signal turning from blue to grey means the phone has lost connection with google. It resolves itself very quickly though.

This is on EDGE ... the 3G signal at our place is pretty crap so I keep phone on 2G only mode.

Can you be a little bit more specific though. How long and where in Bloem? Does Bloem have suburbs? :p

Yes, Bloem has suburbs :)

I have full signal, cannot make calls, cannot connect to FaceBook, Twitter, Whatsapp, MyBB ... etc. sometimes, if I switch of the phone, switch it back on, I can make a call, mostly, just nothing, sometimes the party I am calling, gets a missed call, sometimes not. Sometimes I get an incoming call, and sometimes, just get a missed call, no ringing nothing.

My iPhone 4S shows full signal strength, 3G, and further is totally useless, yesterday, nearly thru my blameless phone against the closest wall, in utter frustration, as I needed to make a few calls.

You're correct. OP, is it not possible that this is isolated to your suburb?

I travel all over town, during the day, now that you mention it, some suburbs are worse than others ...

Where I live, I seldom have any issues.

I doubt Bloemfontein suffers from congestion. Must be your phone.

Edit: seen your last 5 posts, you're a Cell c troll.

If I am a Cell-C troll, then you are an idiot ... , your opinion, and you are welcome ...

Nothing wrong with the phone ... , it works perfectly, for instance when I am home, but in the CBD, and some of the wealthier suburbs, and numerous other locations, nada ...

Op.... are u aware of others having the same issues?family or friends in bloem?

Yes, there are others having similar problems that I know of, but Saturday, was just the worst, it has been ... , 8 or so friends/colleagues, who have contracts with Vodacom have had similar experiences.

And it happens in areas, where normally get good cellular service, there are areas in Bloem where Vodacom has nearly non-existent coverage, and I am not referring to these areas either - they are known anomalies.

Thank you, calls from blocked numbers seem to be the biggest issue in this problem i.e. highest percentage of missed calls that don't ring ... Probably close to half of the problem calls.

Doubt my iPhone is faulty, as it exhibits no problems when at home over weekends, i.e. it is in one of the better areas for Vodacom reception. Tho occasionally the blocked call not coming thru, is experienced.

If the problem does not go away, contract is close to termination date, will move to another provider, tho I have no real expectation or belief, that any one is better than the rest, but have no way of checking testing this other than moving, and trying out in my area.

Problem is it is becoming a regular occurrence, and is thus not acceptable

I have received feedback. There is no known issue in Bloem. They have the link to this thread and will look a bit closer at the complaint to see what could be causing this. If they come up with something I am sure they will either have Vodacom rep post here or let me know.

Elf....I am gonna send you a PM. You must please give me your information for me to pass it on to CIC for further investigation.

Just some more info:

Vodacom are busy with a RAN swap/upgrade of their entire 2G and 3G network in the Bloemfontein and Kimberley areas, and that this swap will be completed by end October 2013.
(Note that only the BFN and KBY metro areas – close to 170 base stations - are being swapped in this phase.

OP have been contacted by Vodacom and query is in hand with them.

I would just like to point out that this in my view is more of a call drop and quality issue as the speeds reported on data by the client is pretty decent ... though not as fast as he had grown used to in the beginning.

This therefore is not the same issue as reported by Cell C clients on mybroadband.co.za

Well, today, I was once again at the location where I had no connection but full signal, and all was working again.

Vodacom when I spoke to them said it was possible that they where working on the tower I was connecting to, as they are busy upgrading towers in the area.

Hoping it was so.

Well, things are looking up, between family, friends, colleagues and clients, who are on Vodacom, a lot less dropped or missed calls have been experienced.

Visited the area where I had no service what so ever, on 4 occasions this week, the first voice calls had echoes/harmonics, subsequent visits both voice and data where good.

Keep it up Vodacom, hopefully these upgrades, mean we will be getting LTE real soon ...
