If it got stolen, wouldnt you feel that much better that the person who stole it will have a better chance of being caught? Even if it made a 1% difference?

Exactly how do you think this will help catch thiefs? Whether something is registered or not doesn't make any difference is you can't track down the person that stole it first.

Furthermore, how can you expect government to increase spending on crime prevention when the statistics dont reflect the reality. If my phone got stolen there would be a good chance that I would not report it because its such a ball ache. I am sure there are thousands out there who dont report petty crime. Now that we have to, stats will reflect more accurately and maybe, just maybe something will be done about it.

How can you justify forcing any person to report any crime? People should be allowed for themselves to decide if they want to report something or not. They might have their own personal reasons not to report it.

I dont see what the big fuss is about. All these theories about being monitored etc are a joke. Dont flatter yourselves people.

Like I stated earlier. Why can the US monitor 10% of all their landlines at the same time. Do you honestly think they would have implemented such legislation if they didn't intend to do exactly that. SA is no different from any other country in that regard. I honestly have to wonder who is doing the "flattering" here.

Service provider Vodacom says it has already developed an electronic registration form to enable prepaid customers to comply more easily with the regulations.
