NSA injected spyware into your hard drive

Now that's very nasty considering that it's practically impossible for a layman to build their own NSA free hard drive.

Hang on, maybe I didn't fully comprehend what the article says BUT could I be wrong to say that it says that the NSA put a gun against Western Digital, Seagate, Toshiba, and forced them to write this malware unto the hard drives?

Hmmmmm, can this spyware compromise a hard drives integrity, thus shortening its expected lifespan?

More like they offered the companies some contracts/cash. Or just simply paid their programmers on the side to install the software.

Seriously? I suspect some legal implications if the manufacturers didn't agree.

That would be a massive breach of contract and would implicate a whole chain. The NSA negotiated with the firms and possible local governance in where the firms are situated, it is the only possible way.

You think that would deter the NSA ? :)

aspersky researchers have documented 500 infections by Equation Group in at least 42 countries, with Iran, Russia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, Syria, and Mali topping the list. Because of a self-destruct mechanism built into the malware, the researchers suspect that this is just a tiny percentage of the total; the actual number of victims likely reaches into the tens of thousands.

Looks like a very selective and thus very reasonable virus to me, so no sweat if it does a good deed!

Are this ALL harddrives or was this a selected operation... MyBB Article little bit of a clickbait effect here.

That article was not included in the posted article.

So clickbait it is

I am not a fan of this BS just in case someone wondered
