I know there already is a thread in the Futubox thread with regards to NTV but thought this would be helpful to others once the questions are answered.

to everyone using NTV and especially using it for sports, what has your experience been like? Have they been reliable during sporting events? What is the quality like and do they offer all the big games and different sporting events?

I ask because I have wasted soooooo much time and money so far trying to find a replacement for SuperSport. Everything I have tried hasn't worked out properly yet. First tried Futubox but they weren't reliable. Then used OSS, which for me worked perfectly but then for "legal" reasons they stopped. I am now trying PlayOn with the Superusvoxtv add-on but out of all the sport channels they offer have only been able to get one to work and the quality made 140p look like HD. So before I spend more money I was hoping that someone who uses NTV could shed some light. I don't really care for the other channels as I have Netflix, Hulu and Plex but they will be a bonus if I go this route.

Also thought of trying DishWorld sport as they have a Roku channel, which is my ideal situation, but have heard they don't offer EPL ect so that won't help.

I know this topic has been discussed often but surely there must be a solution out there to allow us to watch sport - even if I have to pay, if the streams work and are reliable then I don’t mind.

OK that’s enough ranting. Hope someone can share some good news :D

If you just need EPL coverage then take a look at starsports. Its very cheap, so use a fast indian vpn and you are good to go.

Quality wise don't expect too much. I will say it is about on par with NTV. Watchable when i output to my 23 inch monitor but i don't think its good enough for any screen larger than that.

I need some way to watch on my 42" TV preferably using my Roku but don't mind playing it off XBMC or Plex.

After trying all the solutions as you, i decided to go the aljazeerasports.tv route. I use un-block us for the geo lock issue. they dont have a Roku or XBMC addon, but its reliable and they stream in HD too. It cost me R190 pm.

As far as i know, none of the legals streams for EPL supports Roku or XBMC. Your best bet will be the underground streams like NTV and others, and even then not all of them have XBMC plugins (Roku definitely out).

NTV quality is acceptable, looks ok on my 23 inch screen. Some channels like Sky sports and BT are fine, but Aljazeera channels are quite poor quality.

If you are not restricted to your current setup, then there are better options out there.

Do they show all the sports? Do they also offer all the Al jazzera sport channels or just one? I already have unotelly - surely that should also work? Going to have a look at it.

Is this the link: aljazeerasports.tv - went to that address but no luck.

Like what digitalp suggested, go with Aljazeera. If you get geoblocked then go get starsports season pass or something. I can't remember the exact price but it is very very cheap. You also have premierleaguepass.com, another good quality source but cost more.

Unotelly wasn't working well with Aljazeera last month when i tried, not sure if they have solved the issue.

Yeah I had a look at starsports but their quality didn't look too good. I Managed to find the al jazeera sports site while using uno telly but haven't signed up yet to test but a good sign hopefully Is that it displayed the site. Looks like I will have to give it a try. Really like that I can watch in HD tho but now need to figure out how l am going to view it on my TV.

About a million other saffers are in the same boat trying to find alternative to SuperSport.

What sports do they show besides EPL? Thinking the Ashes, Wimbledon etc

Check premierleaguepass but says it is only available in New Zealand? Is that correct?

I used unotelly with Aljazeera few weeks back. No problem accessing the website and all but when you stream the actual stuff, it kept freezing and then you get an error effectively locking you out of the stream (fairusebreach error).

So unotelly won't work?

I don't think unotelly supports premierleaguepass. You can try overplay, ask them through the online chat if they support it( i remember they do), and request for a free trial.

Wouldn't if I download the Al jazeera app on my iPhone or ipad and watch the sport on the device and then Airplay it to my 42" TV to view it there? I know it seems a long workaround but at least will be able to view it on the TV. Do you know if this work and if it will still show in HD? Not the biggest fan of watching it on a PC connected to TV so trying to find a workaround...

NTV looks fine on my 40 inch LCD via XBMC. I watched the last 3 F1 races, looks same if not better than SS2 (and the Sky F1 coverage is worlds apart from Supersport!!!!), and watched a few EPL matches as well, on par with SS3 (not HD).

I use a 4mb uncapped line from Web Africa, no issues with buffering etc so far.

Aljazeera Sports +1~+4 (Arabic, English, SD, HD?) appears to be available for the Roku on ASTV if that's of any interest ($200 p.a.).

Overplay supports premier league pass. I use that. Excellent streams.

Google eyeondemand. That website reviews all the streaming websites and tells you what apps is available for what.
