Hi there.

NukeCAP.co.za is a new provider of proxy services or vpn access over uncapped international bandwidth. If you feel like having a look at our packages please go to our website @ http://nukecap.co.za and look under Services.

We are starting on the 1st of December, and im fairly sure there should be a package to suit everyones need. If you feel that you need a different custom package, please drop me an email @ [email protected]

You can also come have a chat with me on mirc. server=snow.shadowfire.org #nukecap or for the Durbanville Area Wireless User Group same server, #dawug

PS. I tried to make advertising arangements with rpm, had no response yet. So Im not trying to advertise without paying. Once I get a response, we will negotiate advertising rights.

Clipse can I ask you if what are the speeds after you've been capped?

Counting down...
123 days till the end of Hellkom

hi there man, here is the nakid truth and what you can expect.

First month will work slightly different as we wont have our full capacity, so we will throttle bandwidth to the packages in fair shares according to the pricing.

The normal system works as follow, and this should be in action from january onwards.(or depending on user applications at the time)

we have 64-80k/s ie. 512k-640k of unlimited International bandwidth to utilise, putting 30 users on this will equate to a minimum speed of 2.6k/s give or take a few bytes. Now ideally, not everyone will be actively browsing at exactly the same time, so with this theory in mind there is allready atleast 50% more bandwidth per user. But lets say, 50% of the users are allways on even at same time, doing whatever they feel like doing. Be it browsing or mirc etc. will then get 5.2k/s give or take a few bytes per user. This is not an ISP package, purely a proxy solution with vpn option aswell by january.

December is going to be a test run, but Im confident it will work out really nicely and as users in december spread the word of the service there will be more signups.

As the service expands to more users, 20-30users (we can handle 30 by our maths :D ) we will be dropping the price of all packages and doubt he bandwidth. Once against leaving the possibility of my theory open to more bandwidth per user. Currently our bandwidth might look little to some, but at these prices we regard it as really well priced compared to other services of this nature.

Forgot to mention that, if bandwidth is put into blocks of 64k it would be a 5:1 on 64k ratio at the worse. when we expand our bandwidth in future we hope to drop that to 3:1 ratio, currently its just not possible.

All Great Ideas, needs to Start small. :D or sumthing like that.

Any other questions?

Hi there, just a small update to nukecap proxy serivces.

We have dropped the activation fee for Basic and Intermediate from R300 to R200.

Also we would like to know from users interested in this service but feeling it cost to much, what would they be willing to pay?

We will be more than happy to make alternative arangements for different package flavours for these users.

Regards

haha, this is just too good, ROFL

sorry CLipse, I don't wanna be a pessimist, but somehow I don't see things working the way you plan for them to, although you have the best intentions, your target market, will not be happy with the service.
Contention simply does not apply to users finding loopholes for 'the cap'
The target market (ADSL users that eat their cap EVERY MONTH)
are not your average IRC users, or forum hogs, or even web browsers, they are ALL HEAVY DOWNLOADERS. Every one of your users thinks they will get this service, to go download crazy!

Good Luck
and good luck to anyone that thinks this can work!

relax dorris... there is a perfectly viable market for this... as i need/want exactly what is offered... and im sure there's many like me.

I gladly kill my cap asap, so that i can leech local... on ONE single account from telkom, and then without giving more money for a another 3gigs, id rather pay someone like clipse, to provide me with a bout 5kb/s or whatever to browse http and download the occational thing where im not in any hurry. so ya... chill on the pessimism, ye i know we get burnt alot, but i dont really see the need for your opening... "HAHAHAHAhahahaha"

w0w i actually agree with silversurfer! Ther is a huge crowd that does the same thing.
Clipse on another note. Im not sure if it was you and or sum1 else who mentioned setting up a small wisp (1k radius) would cost like R7000. if so would you mind if I came to durbanville and checked out your setup? Basically I want 20 users(friends) connected we all stay close by.I also want to share my adsl but controllably. eg untill i finish my cap no1 can get access after that max 56k per person(must'nt make me lag when playing online)

would be appreciated :)

hey freeek, regarding the wisp. That wasnt me, I was only talking bout Wireless Mesh, tho WISP can be possible having internet bandwidth available. Have a look at rough estimates and requirements for a Mesh setup at http://www.nukecap.co.za under the projects section.

If you got more questions just use the forum. Its not active enough yet :-)

btw guys, just want to let you know that the proxy services can be activated at lower cost for those who might only need it midway December. For those signing up at reduced costs, and want to use service in January will then have to pay the reduced activation difference and full monthly cost.

The cost will be less as follow:

Applications from 10th-15th = 1/3 off on activation and 1/3 off on monthly cost
Applications on 25th-30th = 1/2 off on activation and 1/2 off on monthl cost

This will only count for Basic/Intermediate and Advanced packages, December special will cost the same at any time.

Yo Clipse. I don't need the user setup, I already know that! I wanna know the server side setup. Like how do I create the high site. 3 13dbi flat panels in 3 directions connected to wat AP/Bridge ...?
Spamtheman, possibly you mentioned to me sumthin abt R7000.

ye with a setup that big youll go around R7k easily.

Cause then youll also need 3xmini-pci cards in server or routerboard whichever you prefer which cost quiet a bit, not to mention youll most probably need something like mikrotik OS which got licensing fee of about R700 once off for full level 5 wisp

Hi there.

Anyone reading this, and interested in our Services please take a few minutes of your time and email [email protected] with what you would want from nukecap and at what price you are willing to pay.

I just want to know what the general public would be able to pay, be realistic and take in consideration the costs behind the scene. I wont reply to anyone saying let it be Free and 512k per user.

We really want to offer the best possible solution to the cap at the lowest possible price, so help us to somehow be able to help the public better.

So far, the users on nukecap have had very little downtime and they seem happy (have had no complaints so far) but we have far to much unused bandwidth atm with to little users. I would love to offer nukecap for as long as possible, but user count atm just does not supply the needed money to even cover the costs for bandwidth monthly.

So after all has been said, I dont mind going into next month knowing I cant cover the costs with the users actually signed up but more than that I cant do.

This is something I offer in my spare time and Im only asking a little bit of help from the public.

Thanks to this months good response to our services, we will remain running the project scheduled up to march and re-evalute it then upon signed up users.

There is still spots open on the proxy, so feel free to ask any questions you have about it if you are unsure about it.

Im confident up to now, close to 2 months running we have built an allready stable amount of happy users. If any of the users on myadsl.co.za could comment about the proxy and their feelings since joining it would be appreciated.

Regards

Sorry for being a bit sceptical, but I've tried all these proxy services and they simply don't work. Because whenever I was capped everyone else was capped and thats when I needed the service. Usually my capped ADSL turned out to be quicker than the proxy service, because of the very high contention ratio's and everyone trying to finish their torrent downloads using the proxy. For me it works out better to get 2 normal 3gig accounts, rape the one of bandwidth (locally) and use the second for browsing and updates.

I did some calculations that with 30 users on my proxy there is theoretically 140gig of data per month being transfered over it if used 24/7 at max speed. Dividing that by 30 you get 4.7gig per user allready more than an extra 3gig Telkom ADSL account and at a cheaper cost.

I am not forcing this solution upon neone, its just something I offer in my spare time to make some other people enjoy the internet more on their ADSL.

Ill put u at a worse case scenario on our proxy, all 30users on you will get 1-1.5k/s minimum and not 1-1.5k/hour like when you would be browsing on your capped adsl. Regarding torrents, we dont support torrents over the proxy and mass downloading is also at a very minimum in fact, since we only allow that on our advanced packages under a very fair negotiation which isnt strict but those currently on advanced is very co-operative and I have not found any recent to put in speed restrictions per user.

To James: I can only say from my side being the one hosting it, that there has been no reported slow speeds or long waiting or anything as such. As soon as I do get that, I will put in place the soon to be finalised server software that will be doing very intelligent bandwidth throtling to give the users accessing the most important port:80 for browsing the highest priority as its mostly small amounts of data at a time. This wont drasticly even affect those on advanced package downloading via p2p like kazaa or dc++.

Ps. the total bandwidth available atm is 512k, roughly 55k/s for interest sake.

Hope I answered some questions :D
