I have an exceptionally understanding family!
When I bought my Fox back in 1988, I went to the shops at 2 pm to buy hot cross buns, as the following day was Good Friday, and happened to see the Fox on the showroom floor of the local VW agent.
I was home at exactly 4:30 pm with the hot cross buns AND the Fox...

I paid 73 k and have now spent a further 5 k on tyres, brake pads, gearbox mounting and a CV - not absolutely necessary, but I prefer to start off with everything 100% before I start.
A 2001 model, not as nice as this one is being advertised at a dealer I know, for 70k - he says that he would have retailed mine for 99 990, and wouldn't have fixed the stuff that I have, so it's a good deal
That's not bad at all considering the cost of tyres & labour.
