Number of Wireless ISP subscribers growing

Not surprising, seeing that it is far more affordable than the big boys (Sentech, Telkom, et al).

Now I'm looking for an Pretoria-based one... :D

I would have liked to support our local WISP guys - they charge R456 per month for 512Kb/s uncapped, P2P allowed with 20-1 contention ratio.
The problem was that they charge R3200 for installation and equipment - I can buy about 2 access points, 2 18dBi directional grids, poles and cable, and still take my wife and 4 friends to John Dorys for that price!

That's the catch... the initial installation is a bit steep... :(

But then again, R456 pm for 512Kb/s uncapped is excellent value for money (in the South African context).
 
Uncapped sounds good, but I haven't heard of anything going around in Pretoria. Is this international uncapped? How do they do that? I'd imagine this is just for downloads and not games. Oh well still sounds fantastic.

What are international pings like?

Not all WISP charge that price , my installation was only R2200-00:)
 
thats sounds very good, but the one thing you guys struggle with is latency..and your interantional latency is shocking..:(
