Number porting ... Vodacom to MTN

Hi guys,

I've recently taken out a contract with MTN to get the HTC Desire. My Vodacom contract is up for renewal in a month and as you might have guessed I would like it cancel it. BUT I would really like to keep my original 082 number, what's the process of getting it swapped over?

Can't answer for contract but for prepaid port with my vodacom 072 number i just went to MTN & 24 hours later it was swapped over - think there was some small charge for new sim.(+/- R100 maybe)
24hours later my Voda sim went dead inserted the new Mtn one and away working with same 072 number - no down time - Painless - And my sms's arrive on time,not 4 hours later.

When the contract is over tell them you would like to retain it as a prepaid and then convert or contact MTN and tell them you would like to port over once your contract is over.
