im connecting my D500 to my pc via bluetooth to use my fone as a modem.
anyone know wat number to dial? *99# works only half way but wont get past the "registering on the network" bit

im on cellc....tried an mtn sim and dialed *99# and it worked sweetly.

any help would be really appreciated
thanks

cell c? try 911 (joking, dont try it)

buy a vodacom or mtn sim, cell c isnt realy the service provider to look at for internet

i also trying to get te whole thing working, i have a nokia 6600 and i want to connect on the net through my phone on my pc. can sum1 plz tell me how to do it?

thanks in advance

biltonguy, silly question, i know, but were you able to successfully establish a gprs connection from your phone (using the cell c sim)?

also, have you checked the D500's gprs modem settings to make sure that your using the correct APN? It should normally be something like "internet", although i'm not sure if that works for cell c.

hope that helps :)

Are you trying to connect using vodacom gprs? try going to www.vodacom.co.za, and logon to the vodacom4me site (you'll have to register first if you've never done so).

under "my devices", you'll find a link "PDA Setup". select the relevant options from the dropdown lists, making sure you choose "laptop" instead of an actual pda. that will give you step by step instructions for connecting with your phone. good luck ;)

If you are a Cell C prepaid customer, its time to change to Vodacom..........Cell C does not support GPRS for prepaid customers

Are you using Bluetooth or Infrared? For infrared, you have to go to 'Modem' in your "Connections" folder, and activate the modem first. I am on CellC contract, using Nokia 6600, and using my laptop's infrared port. It works, but as people here said (and I agree), CellC is pretty useless regarding GPRS and Internet.

How do u get a vodafone to use the vodafone APN as it is cheaper than using the standard one that Vodacom gives. when u try use the Vodafone Live one it says its protected.

biltonguy, how much does CellC charge you per MB or part thereof [AFAIK from last year when I tried this with CellC...in 20KByte segments], how much does it cost on pre-paid Vodacom [or MTN] per MB?

Unfortunatly im stuck on a cellc contract...

im using a bluetooth dongle to connect to my fone. gprs is working fine on the fone, just need to get my pc to use the fones gprs. as i said i tried an mtn sim and it worked sweetly using *99#. so just need the right number to dial guess eg: *99***1# or *99#. i dont see how different networks would require u to dial a diff number, its just a command being sent to your fone

ic: cellc brought thier prices in line with the others -> R2/MB

Cell C GPRS internet

I also have problems connecting to internet via GPRS. If anyone can help me to activate it using Cell C it would be appreciated. My dialup number is also *99# bu default, but it goes through the whole process and then tells me that it's not connected...
