Nuvi vs TomTom - Free 1st Updates

Hey guys,

I just want to confirm something,

went to buy myself a GPS unit today and was told that whichever device u buy u are required to pay to update maps.


However the guy then said that the 1st update for TomTom is free.
That is for the Maps as well as Speed Camera's. But when I've checked online am required to pay for Speed Camera's.

Can somebody please confirm if the Camera updates on Nuvi are free, or would that require payment.

I can't comment on the TomTom but the Nuvi POI updates are free and updated weekly (Downloads only available to registered Garmin owners). Also the first map-update is also frequently free (depends on a few factors but I have always received at least 1 update for free) and thereafter seems to be standardizing at about R350 per update.

Yes it includes speed cameras and more (stands for Points of Interest)
