Nvidia and Foxconn

I have a Nvidia Geforce 7600GT And my friend has a Foxconn Geforce 8600GT
and his doesn't perform as good as my 7600GT. Is that Mayby because his is a Foxconn?:confused:

lol, the 7600GT was good at its time and for the price, while the 8600GT wasn't really. But it's still quite a lot better than the 7600GT.

Foxconn won't have anything to do with it. It might be drivers, running in DX10 mode, power supply? The only likely one is if he is running Vista (or you both are) and his GPU renders in DX10.

Not so much an XP vs Vista thing than DX9 vs DX10 and bad drivers for it. If they both ran Vista it would still perform worse because of DX10. Might have been what you meant, but I'm sure most people would happily think it's purely Vista being that much slower than XP.
 
If he's attempting to run games in DirectX 10 he'll definitely have worse frame rates than your 7600GT because you can only run games in DirectX 9 :)

Yea it's probably that, but if it's something like Counter-Strike or Call of Duty then It might be a PSU problem or a faulty card?

We tried exactly the same games ( Prey , Uber sodier , R6 Vegas , Oblivion and all the Nfs from U1 to Pro Street) and my graphics card blew his away according to the fps and you can see his doesn't perform so good. We also ran 3d mark and his fps also sucks against my 7600GT.

Oh, i didnt knw that:)But even so, the 8600GT 256Mb DDR2 is faster than the 7600GT 256Mb DDR3..
thats really wierd but i kinda got the same case, ive got a XFX Geforce 7600Gt with a custom overclcok and i still beat my friends 8600Gt:DBut its only when i Overclock mine that its better.My OC IS quite high, 750Mhz core and 780Mhz mem:)
 
im still gonna tell you the 8600 is a piece of junk

does his 8600 have a fan ? fanless 8600's suck even worse

Ya the 8600GT's suck because they supposed to be better than the whole 7xxx series,and they sometimes get beaten by way cheaper 7600Gt overclocks....But the fact is that it is faster than the 7600GT standard and the 7600gt isnt better than it because if you had to overclcok the 8600GT ( which overclocks well) it wud then rape the 7600Gt overclcok

The 8600GT was pretty much a 7600GT with DX10 support, there is very little improvement in terms of performance.
If your 7600GT was in anyway OC'd then it would be faster.
The 8600GT overclocks very well but by default isnt great.
I think they missed the mark quite badly with that one!

Is yours a XFX 7600GT by any chance?
