Nvidia's relentless rally

Nvidia's relentless rally has propelled the semiconductor giant’s market capitalization over its mega-cap tech peers, helping it clinch the title of the world’s most valuable company as the artificial intelligence wave continues.

The stock rose 3.5% to close at $135.58 (R2,445.77) a share Tuesday, putting the company’s market value at about $3.3 trillion (R59.53 trillion) and catapulting it over those of Microsoft and Apple.

Back in the day I got a 3dfx Voodoo and was amazed by Quake in 640x480 with anti-aliasing etc.

My friend bought a Riva a bit later and although it could do a bit higher resolution it just wasn't as good. At the time I thought he had wasted his money.

If an investor at the time had asked me to choose between them I'd have made a pretty poor choice.

I think you would have been ok, since your 3DFX shares would have become Nvidia shares when Nvidia bought them.
The smartest investors at that time invested in ASML. That company is responsible for the equipment used by the best fabs including TSMC. That's if you cared about companies with real value instead of market speculation.

I had a Riva TNT at the time as well. I just liked the fact that I did not also need to buy a 2D card and a 3D card. The Riva TNT had it all-in-one, which was significantly cheaper

I started putting in stop losses even though I am a long term guy, cause this is just getting crazy. Waiting for the burst....
