Anyways I had a look at the 2000 series launch and the the branded cards (MSI, ASUS etc.) were about 20% more expensive than the Founders Edition cards, when they launched in the USA. I've fixed my calc. and below are my estimates.

I've noticed that RARU is advertising these cards for more or less the same price as Evetech... So, I suppose that's what it's gonna be.

And before anyone says: "Butzzzz the RTX 3090 is likes a TitanzZz. Whatzzz did you expect?!" I was naively hoping for max 35k for the 3090... I know 35k is a sh*t ton of money, but that was my "psychological" limit and now we are looking at 40-45k...

Edit: RARU is suggesting the cards will arrive on the 21st of September...

Raru sucks. Their quality of service has become so shocking that even SA Gamer, a forum they bankroll, has discussed whether Raru is closing and will abandon the forum.

Evetech and Raru don't matter too much. Just wait for Wootware to confirm pricing. And they will bring in Palit and Zotac, which are much better value than MSI, Asus and Gigabyte.

Unless you're stating that it should not be converted to Rands. In that case I'm not sure at which exchange rate SARS converts the value - I simply used R17 for illustrative purposes.

Lol sorry i confused your post with someones 16% percent and then an additional 15%. My bad my bad ... That atv charge is really small
 
If there are price and availability issues then that's incredibly stupid from Nvidia. I'll make my next purchase an AMD card if things look fishy. Not a complex scenario.

Probably facing big backlash from vendors who have stock of 20 series cards that they can no longer shift.

Huge price cuts would make quick work of that. I sympathise if anyone has been screwed over, but some sort of credit system by Nvidia to compensate vendors for recent 20 Series orders would have made light work of any issues around dumping stock on the cheap.
 
RDNA2 cards are going to face the same scarcity challenge (probably). The process they're using shares wafers with Ryzen 4000, Xbox and Playstation - all launching at about the same time. The graphics cards are the lowest margin chips out of all those (given you can get multiple Ryzen processors out of the same wafer area as a graphics chip) so I expect they'll be the lowest priority. Who knows how many million SOCs will go to MS and Sony.

Expect price and availability to be a problem on both sides.
 
Now that Nvidia is being criticised, online peeps are taking their turns at punching Nvidia. The 3090 is a Titan, in comparison to the 3080. Third-party 3080 cards are allegedly burdened with issues. Big rumours that Big Navi will be beating the RTX 3080... The internet is busy, especially Adored TV which is criticising Ampere to death.

Yes, there are issues, but the AMD shills are out and about in strength.

The biggest issue is availability and I guess AMD is going to have the exact same supply issue, irrelevant whether TSMC or Samsung. The same peeps which criticised the Vega-bread-baking oven have now turned those very same, power usage, arguments against Ampere.

People have a right to speak their minds, but damn the shilling is strong.
 


This is making life very frustrating at the moment. My gaming laptop died. I was planning on buying a new one come November or December. Now it's a toss up between doing that and waiting till April or something for the mobile versions of these cards.
 
You know, the more I think about it, the more I realize that I don't need 4K gaming and the RTX 3000 series are actually completely pointless for me.

Hopefully they release a 3060 that is cheaper and doesn't cause loadshedding when powered on.

Or I'll just go AMD.

Recently there has been some discussion about the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 series.

During our mass production QC testing we discovered a full 6 POSCAPs solution cannot pass the real world applications testing. It took almost a week of R&D effort to find the cause and reduce the POSCAPs to 4 and add 20 MLCC caps prior to shipping production boards, this is why the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 series was delayed at launch. There were no 6 POSCAP production EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 boards shipped.

But, due to the time crunch, some of the reviewers were sent a pre-production version with 6 POSCAP’s, we are working with those reviewers directly to replace their boards with production versions.
EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 XC3 series with 5 POSCAPs + 10 MLCC solution is matched with the XC3 spec without issues.

Also note that we have updated the product pictures at EVGA.com to reflect the production components that shipped to gamers and enthusiasts since day 1 of product launch.

So... say a consumer ends up receiving a 'reviewer' specced GPU, what then? Will they stand behind their product or tell the consumer to get REKT with a new BIOS update?
 
I have watched many Gamers Nexus touring videos, and it is notable that companies like EVGA, MSI, etc. invest a lot in R&D, and Gigabyte which always seem to over address some issues, but they have all walked into this situation. I read now the same issues are brewing with 3090, trolling may also be at play here.

I hope those with under-specced GPUs have a right to return.

How did ASUS apparently get it right with the TUF series by overcompensating?

I would like to hear Nvidia's word on this.
