Minor correction. Remember for VAT purposes the "value" (actually called "customs value" for import purposes) of the product you are importing is increased with 10% before applying 15% VAT - E.g. VAT = $1499 x 17 x 1.1 x 0.15 = R4205. So the total value is a little bit more.
But I agree with you, the Evetech markup is silly.
PS: As far as I'm aware there are no additional customs or excise taxes applicable to GPUs, only to TV screens and big monitors.
Thanks! Did not know about the 110% thing...
Anyways I had a look at the 2000 series launch and the the branded cards (MSI, ASUS etc.) were about 20% more expensive than the Founders Edition cards, when they launched in the USA. I've fixed my calc. and below are my estimates.
I've noticed that RARU is advertising these cards for more or less the same price as Evetech... So, I suppose that's what it's gonna be.
And before anyone says: "Butzzzz the RTX 3090 is likes a TitanzZz. Whatzzz did you expect?!" I was naively hoping for max 35k for the 3090... I know 35k is a sh*t ton of money, but that was my "psychological" limit and now we are looking at 40-45k...
Edit: RARU is suggesting the cards will arrive on the 21st of September...
