Nvidia announces RTX 4060 graphics cards

Nvidia has announced a more affordable range of 40-series graphics cards, promising buyers access to the company’s Ada Lovelace architecture without emptying their pockets.

The company is launching the RTX 4060 series, with the base model featuring a recommended retail price of $299 (R5,760 excl. VAT) and the RTX 4060 Ti starting at $399 (R7,700 excl. VAT).

3080ti 2nd hand on carb is much better value and they are going for anything from 11.5k and upwards nowadays

8gb, 128bit...
thinking 12gb and 192bit minimum a better bet.
Hopefully a possible price drop on other 'older' cards soon?

Yeah no, no point in buying this.
Especially when you consider the secondhand market where you can get a 6700XT for basically half the price of the Zotac 4060Ti.

A good price for an upgrade for my 1050Ti 4GB OC card

Seems like it's barely any improvement over a 3060Ti. Less than 10% average increase across 15 games. Why even buy this?

The 16 series is Turing, same as the 20 series.
Same chip, but not the same features, as a few generations previously used the same chip like the 8 series 9 series for example early riva cards too. Are we going to say the are the same just because they used the same chip ? There was an instance of a die shrinkage as well.

Since the 16 series can't do all of the features of the 20 series and is slower than the 20 series regardless of using the same chip, they are on their own little weird niche generation.

Definitely. Don't listen to the naysayers. Yes, it's not a huge increase in performance vs previous generation, but in your case, it would money well spent if you upgrade from a 1050Ti. Prices are starting to come down as Nvidia notices that people are not going to spend large sums of money any longer on GPUs.

I'm also keen on an upgrade, but with a RTX 3070, I'd rather wait for the 5-series (which I believe is coming end of this year) so I'll skip this generation. I normally skip a generation and then upgrade. At the end of the day its your money and decision, but believe me, going from a 10-series card to 40-series card, you'll see a nice bump in performance :)
