If you bought it recently then yes, you shoulda gone with the 9600GT ;)

But if you paid like a grand or so for it, I guess it's ok.

Depends. If your just using it for office work and browsing it's decent but for gaming it's not good.

If you had the choice you should've gone for the 9600GT. But if you didn't, or if you don't take gaming too seriously it'll be fine :)

because nvidia know there are millions of ppl world wide who see an 8 series vga card and think its good

its only ppl on forums and ppl who know alot about gaming who know the 8600 series is rubbish

so they basically selling to the uninformed which is a major market

Why to nvidia bother making it then?

They actually don't any more. The 9600gt replaced the 8600gt/gts. Those that are still being sold is the old stock.

Nvidia themselves know they failed with the 8600 cards with the 128 bit bus that's why the 9600gt got a 256bit bus.

You shouldn't pay more than R2000 for the 9600GT, preferably it should be R1,700 or R1,800.

8600 went wrong because of costs involved in making it, same with Radeon 2600 series. They didn't' set out to make a cards that performed poorly it was a matter of not being able to scale the 8800GTX/GTX/Ultra core down enough to make a cheap enough part to sell under the $199 mark.

Either way 8600 and 2600 series cards from both companies are terrible, 9600 is good :)

Because they don't perform at the same level! durr..

thats quiet obviuos

but y will the 8800GT ultra be more thatn the 9600GT, if the series appears to be better cause of it being i higher number y is it cheaper? :D

Oh is it "quiet obviuos"!?
..cos you're asking the same question again!

BECAUSE THEY DON'T GIVE YOU THE SAME PERFORMANCE!

9600gt < "8800GT ultra"

It's not better it's just newer!
