I'm looking for a gift, a NY Yankees cap. Is anyone either going to the States soon (long shot I know), or know where I can get one that is not 499?
Looking for the real deal, or something very similar - obviously not one that looks like it was made by Margaret's backyard overlocker (or whatever that machine is called).

found a few on ebay, with their shipping it works to around r350.

shipping from UK, will that be an issue for me? will I have to pay tax once it arrives here?

in terms of EBay purchases specifically, apparently items get "lost" especially when the origin is from the UK

but that info is about 6 years old, haven't kept up with how things are now especially after the hack

499 is a normal price, I'm in Germany and wanted to grab some nfl ones but they're pricey at 35€. I've got a few off eBay in the past for much better prices.

Was also looking for one for a while.
Didn't want the flat rim type.
I eventually purchased when I went to the States last year.
They are not much cheaper over there, think I paid R300+ cannot actually remember that well.
I would suggest paying the R499 price over here if you do not know anyone going to the States soon, unless you find an online store with reliable shipping.
See here (normal prices though R499):

I got the 39thirty, it has the NY at the back, I like that fit best.
The 59fifty has the MBL sign, which is what I wanted, but it also has teh flat rim, which I am not a fan of.

The 59fifty is the one all the players wear on-field but they all, or most of them at least, just bend the brim ;)

I found a new 59fifty behind the bar last night so I decided to curve the brim with a milo tin and an elastic band. Ready to wear…

Found a replica at a "mall-kiosk" for R250, and new era ones at sheesha (or whatever the actual name is) at rosebank for r550.

So seems like the r499 one might have to do, although I still flirting with the idea of the ebay ones - just scared that ordering one from ebay might attract "customs fees" when they come through to SA.

There will almost certainly be some fees involved importing one.

Customs will rape you. Never import textiles!
Yes, the high customs duties in SA exist to protect the revenues and profits of local manufacturers. Our government believes the SA consumer should be forced by law to pay a lot more. They say the reason is to protect jobs in the local clothing industry.
