NZBMatrix is closed

Nzbsrus is linked in there. You just need to pay once off for Api with bit coins. Will test it tonight.

Suddenly I'm getting a high % of repair failed downloads.

Surely the source of nzb's does not affect the validity of the download ?

PS: Not having nzbmatrix is a nightmare - now have to hunt across 6 or more nzb sources to find the less popular stuff.

The Pirate Bay is down at the moment, which causes concern to many BitTorrent users.

Those who wonder whether their ISP has started to block access to the site can be assured though. The site appears to be down globally.

Still, every time the site goes offline for a few minutes thousands of people start to worry that something awful has happened to their beloved site.

Luckily, this is usually not the case.

TorrentFreak contacted the Pirate Bay team who said that they are looking into the current issues. From the looks of it the downtime appears to be network related.

Most proxies, including the one operated by the UK Pirate Party, work just fine.

Update: there’s an issue with a router, should be fixed soon.

Coronary averted. :D

Switch to EU servers like Supernews?

That's not due to NZBM being down though, that's probably your Usenet provider removing parts of each file in order to comply with a DMCA takedown notice. I have an unlimited account with one provider, and a block account (1TB) with another provider. In my client configuration, I added the block account as a backup account, so any missing pieces from the main account will be downloaded by the block account.

My Usenet provider I presume was nzbmatrix.

Now I'm just using what I can find.

Nope they're an indexing site hosting NZB files, which contain the location to the actual files. Your Usenet provider hosts the groups containing the content that you actually download. This would be Thundernews as you mentioned above.

So the problem is that in order to comply with DMCA takedown notices, Thundernews have removed small pieces from each file. Getting a block account (a 180GB block account from Astraweb for example), and adding it as a backup server to your client software, would solve the problem.

Ah thanks - I think I was paying for nzbmatrix so can use that money elsewhere. Just checked, my sabnzb uses secure.eu.thundernews.com with a backup secure.us.thundernews.com.

I've seen a few negative comments about Astraweb - is it a good option ?

The problem is that your main and backup servers both belong to the same provider, so both would have the same missing parts. The trick is to use a backup account from a different provider, because missing parts from one provider will probably be available on the other.

There's nothing wrong with using Astraweb, but they're doing the same thing that Thundernews and basically everyone else is. If you get a 180GB block account from them, it lasts until you use up the full 180GB. If you add this block account as a backup server, then it would last years, because it will only consume at most a few MB in order to make up for the missing parts from Thundernews.

I've been on Astraweb and moved to Supernews. Much more reliable. Mike also switched from Astraweb to Supernews.

I was never able to get Headphones to do anything.

Its a mission, you need to have python running ect. But when its running properly its an awesome system. Headphones downloads the music as it becomes available, then drops that into my google music watch folder which uploads it to my google music account.

I use mweb as primary, astraweb 180 as backup. Hardly have missing files. It's been a year and a half, I think I've used less than half astraweb.

Since I moved to nzbsa I see my shows are x264 compared to xvid. Is there a reason or just coincidence. Not a concern.

Yeah mine picked up a few upcoming albums then nothing

Musicbrainz (their data provider much, much like IMDB for music) started to block them because of the volume of API calls. You effectively need to pay $10 for a mirror to the site to keep it working.
